Churchgoers were so appalled by the act that a special mass took place to cleanse the church after the footage was discovered.

Coincidentally, the plot was all about some "footage" being discovered.

The justice ministry said we should have hung a no-entry sign on the church entrance. Then we could prosecute people who do this sort of thing. But it's absurd to stick that sort of sign on the door of a church,

So your policy is to take all comers?

I love porn as much if not more than anyone. But just stay out of churches. We know the Religious Right can't stay out of peoples sex lives. That does not excuse stooping to their level.

How is this not considered a hate crime?

I'm not Catholic, but we all know damn well that if someone did something that appeared to violate the sanctity of a Synagogue or Mosque, we would all be up in arms over it.

This is no better than some pervert sending unsolicited dick pics.

You could base a whole semester on that little judgement. Heck, even a thesis. It is a fine and rich case according to my unexpert eyes.

Presumably, despite Dutch tolerance, Church Law is the only law that makes filming a pornographic movie a blasphemy and a sin. The Dutch Courts can not make anything a blasphemy or a sin because there is no Established Church to sanction and enforce religious particularities or sectarian dogmas concerning actions that are blasphemous or sinful. Only an authorized priest of the Roman Catholic Faith could sanctify a church, and only one can desanctify it. The State does not have the right or the power to enforce an establishment of relgion since the days of the Inquisition (which ended in Portugal in the early 19th Century, well after every where else).

Although American religionists of the right twist and betray the words and clear meaning of the Second Amendment, no American Court may constitutionally create or enforce an establishment of religion either.

Even though religionists of the far right make black white and white black, twisting the Second Amendment so as to claim that it says the exact opposite, and requires that their own brand of Christianity be the American State Religion at the expense of all pagan, jewish or modern Christian religions, denominations, sects and cults.

Note:  it is not illegal to film a porno movie in a hotel room as far as I know. Although the proprieter may object just as much as any church would. Even kiddie porn and snuff films are not ipso facto illegal because of the choice of location. It is the acts and the distribution which are crimes. You could film a snuff film in a shopping mall without the mall having any grounds to demand your arrest because they do not approve of murder or because they are a "Christian business". Or Jewish or Muslim or Pagan or what have you.

Irrelevancies.

Of course, you are an idiot if you film anything, even legal and morally acceptible acts, such as marital sex without due caution to prevent the film from falling into the hands of the proprietors. How can you be such a fool as to suppose a Roman Catholic Church will not be recognized by somebody, even if they are not a Parishioner or sectarian of that particular religion and church?

It is my conviction that any person who films sexual acitivity is worse than a pornographer. They are an idiot. Pornographers are supposedly professionals. They do it for the money and thus worship the only God who matters, Mammon.

Because it's "cool" to rebel and mock authority, like a 60's teenager calling his father Pops while smoking a cigarette. Status is gained not by clever debate or encouraging posts, but by trash talk and borderline libel.

Not so long ago Fark was outraged by the incident where a fast food worker put bacon in the order of a Muslim family. I called out the fake concern, noting the use of multiple slurs and hasty generalization. Then it was folks from the South. Today it's religion. Stay tuned for next week, when Fark finds a new group to trash and encourage bad behavior towards, while simultaneously declaring itself superior to them!
