Scumbags, and there's no way the videos of the kids crying are fake. No kid is that good an actor or he should be in Hollywood. I hope the parents get all that's coming to them. Unfortunately, since people now make livings off of monetizing their videos on YouTube, more and more stuff like this is now happening -- especially involving children.

Back in my day it was the man-children pranking their parents, and sometimes it was passably amusing.

Not anymore. Google has been pulling AdSense revenue like crazy. Huge numbers of profitable channels are failing because of it.

They should have submitted to "America's Funniest Groin Injuries".

Seriously: a Black mother filmed her bawling son after she told him he was going to jail when he accidentally took a plastic cup from a restaurant. Fark: The video won $10,000, then $100,000.

Tell me when Google stops accepting that revenue.

The revenue is going away. The Wall Street Journal wrote a panic piece about ads showing up on neo-Nazi channels (while ignoring how Youtube's targeted ad system works) and advertisers have been pulling their ads from everything.

Obvious PR intervention is obvious.  Especially since they had other "apology" videos saying "Fark the Haters" and then another where they blamed another YouTuber for their troubles.  The "fake" bit is just to set up reasonable doubt when they are standing before a judge.  Of course, it's really hard to "fake" slamming your small son into a bookshelf and causing his nose to bleed, or telling your kids to hit each other as a "game".  Hope they go away for a long time, since they were kind enough to give us hours upon hours of evidence.

Why do people think pranks are so funny?  They're always asinine.  What these two assholes did was clearly child abuse.  Daddy-of-Five sure could use some prison time.  If there's one thing people in prison don't like it's a child abuser.

One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. "Oh, no," I said, "Disneyland burned down." He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.

Kids cry for some really silly reasons. Like, bath time, eating vegatables, or because you won't let them wear flip-flops outside in the dead of winter. I wouldn't record it for the world to see, but the wife and I get a chuckle out of it sometimes.

If a kid asks you where rain comes from, tell him God is crying. If he asks why God is crying, tell him "Probably because of something you did."

YouTube channels like this are really only an escalation of the crap clips that would show up on America's 'Funniest' Home Videos. You know -  the ones that leave you wanting a shower, but the studio audience is always shown busting a gut.  All too often, those same clips would win the prize money.  God, I hated that.

The internet only makes it easier to spread the garbage around.

I'm going to go home tonight and hug my kids. That little guy in glasses crying because his parents were accusing him of a crime he didn't commit was heartbreaking. Kids are powerless, and when you do shiat like that to them, you make them completely helpless, too. Remember when your parents wouldn't listen to you when you tried to explain what happened? Remember when you were in the right but nobody would listen? Imagine your parents did that to you because they thought it was funny.

No good can come of that.

Perhaps going through the system and not being able to defend their actions or explain their way out of it will make the point clearly enough to these white trash parents that what they were doing was seriously farked up. And if they're lucky, none of those kids will silently put a knife into their throats while they sleep.

Yep I heard about this last night and watched the DeFranco video. Well he did some manipulation himself (I didn't need to see the poor kid thrown into the bookshelf repeatedly) but it's obvious this is a messed-up family.

I really don't understand why anyone would think it's OK to swear at little kids like that, even in jest. Do parents of today not understand they're supposed to be setting an example? Being good role models? or do they really think how they're conducting themselves -- selling their children's hurt -- is a "good example"?

It reminds me once again of Ursula K LeGuin's story "The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas". Google it, you can find free copies online.

Gee and all I did to prank my kid was get her Unicorn Farts and Unicorn Poop for christmas. Well, that and pick her up from school after lunch and tell her she had a dentist appointment only to take her to a matinee of a movie she'd been wanting to see.  All the way to the theater, "Daaaad, I don't have a dentist appointment and I don't want another one so soon."

I'll have to come up with a better lame reason to take her out for an afternoon of play when she brings home perfect grades.

I did, too, unfortunately.  I was introduced to it only recently by my son (college-aged) who is completely outraged by it and the whole DeFranco 'family' thing as well.  It takes quite a lot to anger him, but these succeeded.  He showed me some of it and it made me physically ill.  People like that need frequent, repeated and merciless cock/coont punching and to have their kids be allowed to watch as part of the long-term therapy they will require to have any semblance of normal societal function.

It makes me want to inflict the same kind of pain on them as they did on their kids.  Frequently.

With the internet, the world is not set up to maximize humanity or enjoyment.  It is set up to promote that which gets the most clicks.

That which gets the most clicks is a horrible, horrible way for a world to decide what is valuable.

It doesn't HAVE to be this way, but there needs to be a big, loud, 'slow internet' movement [with a better name than that] that actually is organized around promoting what we actually want in our lives, not what we are most likely to click on.

Fast food is all about being cheap and addictive - this, salt and stupid fat.  Our media diets are built on that which is cheap and which creates instantaneous visceral reactions... outrage, mostly.
