My brain is currently concocting a farcical, somewhat slapstick version of how someone were to find themselves suddenly panicking as they are overwhelmed by the sudden hatching of over a thousand chicks.

somewhere out there someone thought they had a good idea, panicked, *this* was their solution.

Local wildlife need to eat too.  And then move into town when the appetizer wasn't enough.

I hate it when our chick shredder breaks. After awhile you're just backed up with preshredded chicks.

I guess these are baby roosters. Possibly the shredder at the chicken farm broke down, so they had to dump them somewhere else.

Every year about 200 million male day-old-chicks are being tossed in the shredder alive.

i don't know about shredders, but my uncle's rendering plant would receive several 55 gallon drums of suffocated male chicks a couple of times a week. The 'sexers' would look at the chicks, toss the males into the drums, one after another, until one layer snuffed out the previous layer. When the drums were filled a lid was popped on and another barrel moved into line. This was in the 1960s, so maybe now they use shredders. Circle of life, people; circle of life.

I know! Poor little things. Yay, now they've been rescued and taken back home to where they can be taken care of and grow old someday and ... what? They're going to do what with them??

Nooo!

That's a lot of little roosters to re-home. It's hard enough to find a home for an occasional unwanted rooster.

BTW, does anyone want a rooster? I have a couple of extras. And no, I don't want to eat them, thanks.
