So recently my roommate crashed my car. It cracked the right front control arm so we needed to replace that and some valve and have it realigned.

Then today I started noticing my tires would screech while I was taking wide turns on the freeway entrances, which had never happened before, even at faster speeds. I didn't think much of it until earlier today I took a turn and my back wheels felt like they locked up and I started fishtailing. Luckily I wasn't going fast or there wasn't other cars around me or I would have been fucked.

Anyone have any idea on what it could have been? Alignment? Wheels? I also got 4 spares from a tire shop that are all different, and I read that could possibly be a result, but I'm thinking it was the shop who originally fixed my shit that didn't align it properly or something.

I want to know what's responsible before I go ahead and accuse people of almost getting me killed in a freeway crash.

Sounds horrifying to be honest. You could take it to a second mechanic and have it re-evaluated and let them know the exact symptoms you've experienced.

Now whether or not to tell the second mechanic why you're gathering that information? I'm not sure.

If you're losing traction it could be your tires or your suspension.

It could be that they didn't get it aligned correctly, something came loose or there is other damage that they didn't see. I've heard of control arms being replaced and the bolt falling out.

Did the shop align the car with the 4 different tires?

Even if both front and rear were out of alignment, it wouldn’t cause much more than a vibration and bad tire wear. It certainly wouldn’t cause your tires to “lock up”. Are you sure they really locked up, or did they just break traction? Bad rear suspension can cause the rear wheels to leave the road, and if it happens while on a curve going fast it can cause that back end to swing around. Have it checked out.

What car do you have? Front or rear wheel drive?

Check your tire pressure, to much would give you shitty traction also.

Need more info front or rear wheel drive would help

Spun out on off ramp before. It was raining and oil was on the road surface.

What were weather conditions like? And how aggressive do you drive?

I’m no car expert but it sounds like your ball bearings are fucked.

you sure it was tires screeching and not a belt?

do you have electronic stability system that could have been compromised?

Sounds like you need a tech to out it on the lift and test drive it.
Cheap can be very expensive.
A competent tech should be able to figure the why of the issue.
The rightful person taking ownership, well, that will show true character

Came to give you an answer but am now backing out because of that avatar.

Did you get it aligned. If not you need to or you'll chew thru your tires in a few months and then you'll be looking at another 500 to 1000 bucks
