North Korea’s provocations seen as tactic to gain U.S. concessions.

I was thinking North Korea was going to ask the U.S. for concessions, get it, and de-escalate. I no longer think that. North Korea might seek a downsizing or suspension of joint U.S.-South Korean military exercises that it views as rehearsals for an invasion, or the signing of a peace treaty officially ending the 1953 Korean War that could be used as a pretext for demanding the withdrawal of the 28,500 American troops currently in South Korea. It could also ask for money or food aid. No concessions have been asked that I am aware of.

It is North Korean doctrine to never strike first, but I'm having doubts about that. Trump asked Jong Un to stop underground nuclear tests a few months back and he complied - for a few months. Than he did it again. Two missiles (without a warhead) have flown over Japan. Jong Un is now planning a nuclear explosion in the Pacific. I don't think it will be a Hydrogen Bomb but an Atomic Bomb. Whether it is an underwater or atmospheric test, it will have serious consequences. Radiation in the atmosphere and ocean. If he drops an airliner or sinks a ship in the process, war will definitely start.

The U.S. Government does not believe in assassinating political leaders. South Korea or China could do that. Better yet would be someone from Jong Un's own circle doing it. Similar to what happened to Hitler, but failed. The assassin would be dead either way, might as well take out the 'crazy' man before he destroys the country and kills millions of people in the process.

We should have an answer in the next three months...

Conventional wisdom would indicate that now that they have nuke capability, they have negotiating power.

I suppose the worry is they conventional wisdom may not apply to NK.

Well, that's just the point. North Korea has never gone this far on their threats, plus, what are they negotiating?
'Rocket Man' wants to go out in a blaze of glory...

Maybe but probably not. His having nukes won't have teeth if everyone feels like he won't use em.

This is the kind of "I'm tough and unpredictable" I would expect from an isolated dictator who has an inferiority complex.

And this is exactly what Trump is exposing. Kim won't strike first, he's not half as crazy as people think, and he should be treated like the pathetic bitch he is.

you know, we havent begun troops build up in south korea

I don't think lil' Kim will initiate anything that would jeopardize his power.

I thought I read some where it would take at least 6 months to prepare for war in the Koreas.

Rocket Boy risks setting fire to our atmosphere which would destroy the entire planet. But lets just sanction him. Because that always works.

Kim won't start one because it surely ends in his death and end of his regime. He'll go down swinging if Trump shoots first though.

He knows Trump can't do shit and is just throwing all Trumps bravado back in his face.

Actually Trump has more pressure on Kim ( from all sides ) than any previous administration.

Way to cheerlead for Kim your dear leader. You probably look so cool to the Antifa scumbags. Maybe you should burn a flag next, that will show trump...

I wonder if the U.S. and South Korea have numerous tunnels going into North Korea.

If there is one thing that every country on Earth should prevent, it is anyone else making nukes. Nukes are singlehandedly the most destructive thing we can do to the planet and our species. No one should be making nukes. Nukes should not be used for negotiation. It's bad enough that any countries have them. There shouldn't be more.

And bad enough that they are in the hands of a ruthless dictatorship like North Korea, who has continuously threatened America (long before Trump was in office believe it or not).

The incentive for Kim Jong Un and NK to get nukes is a result of American Foreign Policy aggression. Saddam is invaded and hung why? What did he have to do with 9/11? Who was named in the axis of evil - Iraq, Iran, North Korea - what in the hell did any have to do with 9/11? Pakistan harbored Osama for years and years and America did nothing in Pakistan - why? Because they got the BOMB. Gaddafi and Libya gave up nuke ambitions as part of negotiations with UN - what happened to Gaddafi? Murdered in the street with a stick up his ass. If Gaddafi had the bomb, he could have ignored the US from forcing his military to stand down by telling them to fuck themselves.

I agree that there is an incentive for people to get nukes. I am saying it's up to the rest of the world to stop it.
