I caught the premier last night and it's pretty good, so far. I especially liked whatever they did to the color saturation of the skies to make south central la in 1983 look....different. Extremely blue skies. Maybe that's how la looked back then with less smog? Idk but it was a nice touch.

Anyway, it shows 3 points of view at the beginning of the crack epidemic. The south central, black community's view. A mexican luchador's view (he relates to a cartel somehow, i think). And a white, exiled CIA officer's view.

Not sure how it's gonna go from here, but the premier was good. Anybody else see it?

I didn't see the premier, but I'll give it a three episode shot at least. I wish it just focused on the 'hood aspect, when commercials started inserting the CIA plot into them my interest dwindled.

The cia plot was almost as interesting as the hood plot. But the hood plot was the best, and the hood stuff is the main focus of the show. The mexican cartel plot was the weakest, so far... but even that was still pretty good.

The show has serious potential.

I haven't seen it yet, but I've seen promos for it. I'll for sure check it out.

Just finished the pilot. Pretty good start. Agreed about the hood aspect being the strongest followed by the cia exile and the cartel in last. Wonder what role if any those girls in the hot tub are going to have. Maybe just there so the CIA guy knows that dude at least lied once to him.

I was wondering the same thing. The hot tub girls seemed to be nobodies. But cia guy finding that earring and all that bloody spots all over the house makes me think at least 1 girl will end up reappearing and being important. But idk.

And i dug the hood kid's uncle. Lol he was great. And the insane israeli kingpin guy. He was great too. And the black chick that owned that club. Lot of cool characters so far.

I watched it and think it's got potential to be pretty good. The coke up the ass while getting a BJ was pretty funny. I like the little black dude (lead) he seems like he's got brains and heart.

Lol yeah that part was a bit much. How the crap they get away with certain things on regular tv idk. They even said the f word several times during this. Has that been normal for tv and i just never noticed?

And yeah lil black dude is interesting so far. It was telling that he told that girl that what makes him feel good was working and earning money. Plus he's brave, since he was gonna let psycho israeli guy shoot him in the heart with that vest on.

Yeah I like how they are allowing it be more graphic, it almost has like an HBO TV show fell to it. I was like WTF when that straw scene happened but it was seriously funny that anyone would do that. I loved the scene with the vest, that kid was gonna take that bullet like a champ.

As a prerequisite of watching modern days shows based on the 80s, how was the song listing so far? Halt & Catch Fire probably takes top notch for this

Ep. 2 is on again right now.

Not quite as strong as the pilot episode, but it's still pretty good. Crazy Israeli guy cracks me up. But something tells me he can be scary too.

And that club owner chick set up dude to get jacked. But dude was too cocky mouthing off to her. So he's gotta learn.

Mexican situation developed a lot more. It's still the weakest plot so far, but it's getting a little more interesting.

The songs aren't bad, but not great either. Most of the ones they used so far aren't my taste.

I already saw Cocaine Cowboys, one and two. I dont need an over dramatized version of it. The real story is already too good. Really cant do it better.

And they have an Israeli mob in it. Was there really an israeli mob in LA at the time?

Really enjoyed the first two episodes.

Looking forward to building chicken milk bombs in the future.

Ep. 2 didn't have that Technicolor-looking blue sky that they had in the pilot episode. I really liked that :(

3 episodes in and it's still good. This show is gettin pretty raw. That was messed up what that 1 thug did to the other thug, but he deserved it.

No clue what franklin is gonna tell the israeli psycho about his money tho. But israeli psycho seems to respect franklin a little bit, so it'll be interesting.

Also, the club owner chick is cold blooded. Interesting character tho
