The era of Microsoft Paint appears to be coming to an end with the upcoming release of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. The image-editing application is officially being classified by Microsoft as a “deprecated feature,” as noted by The Guardian. That means that, come this fall, Paint will “not be in active development and might be removed in future releases.”

This will not stand, ya know, this aggression will not stand, man.

Everyone buy a mac. Their paint feature is still going strong.

I'm assuming they're going to have some sort of replacement lined up, in the creators update.

So many Sherdog memories from Paint

I thought its development stopped after Windows 3.1x

Paint 3D is not the same. I've used it before, it's not nearly as intuitive and fun to use as MS Paint is. It's ugly and feels more like a product that would be on a tablet.

And no way am I buying a $1000 mac, I can get two great PCs for that much.

I just downloaded something that came with a standard download called "Paint 3D" or something like that. It's very similar, but has a different control panel, but all the same toolz... & some added abilities. Are they just replacing Paint with that? If so... then no biggie.

Are there things Paint does that Paint 3D doesn't do?

I recently got this update on my laptop but haven't used it yet.

I wonder how many people actually use MS Paint these days.

I'm not sure I ever used it for anything legitimate and I haven't even opened it in years.

It seemed like the same tools were in there... but you also had the extra tools that allow you to warp stuff 3D style. I didn't work with it much, but with what I did, I would think you can still do all the same thingz you used to do with regular Paint.

Do you pay for virus protection? A mac will save you yearly money since you don't need it. Also, mac is better for Audio & graphics. The base system has more bit per something or other & makes for finer art. I'm not selling Mac's... I'm just saying that price isn't the only difference between them & a PC.

Microsoft hasn't added any good features to paint in 10-15 years. Adding rudimentary 3D modeling is actually pretty cool, even if it sucks right now. You can always install an old version of Paint if you prefer that interface.

We have a whole shoop league dedicated to MS Paint shoops, and it went great. We just crowned a champ, and I'm getting the next title shot because I won the Battle Royale.

Well let me ask you, seriously, have you ever used it for anything else? Like to accomplish any task that wasn't just fucking around?

Yeah I draw maps and diagrams on it for people all the time. I know there are better and more legitimate tools but for quick and easy, Paint was the thing to use for flow charts and other visual tools I used in law school.

Never knew about that. I recently got Corel painter essential and Corel aftershot from humble bundle so they've become my new go to unused paint applications.

I've got photoshop & am decent at using it... but recently I had a part that I had to replace & they needed to know the dimensions... so I put it into paint & made some brackets nice & quick & input the measurements. Came in handy for that.

That said, I never used it before the latest wave of shoop contests here on Sherdog that focused on it. I learned how to use it in the 1st competition & kept learning throughout the following ones. it's fun to play with, but you kind of have to use it a lot to get over the learning curve to be able to utilize it for something serious or something.

Maybe the legion of Paint aficionados will make their voices heard and MS will relent.
