It's very sad that Republicans, even some that were carried over the line on my back, do very little to protect their President," Trump wrote on Twitter after a visit to Trump National Golf Club in Virginia.

Its funny that the guy who has shown little loyalty to people who were loyal to him wonders why his own party is keeping their distance. Why would any serious politicians put their name on the line for someone as unpredictable as trump?

He's a sick man. Another one of these guys with a huge "why me?", always a victim complex.

Right. He's openly bashed Senators and Republicans in his party and is doing nothing to help them with healthcare. And everyone knows that ethically he is a horrible person and would throw all of them under the bus to save himself (and has a proven track record of doing so).

I guess he thought being president was like being king.

Just brainstorming here- how about a megathread for all of Trump's tweets? Yay or nay?

He's right imo. More than half the party are never trumpers whether they admit it or not. By undermining him they are undermining their constituents who voted for trump. They don't want change, they want the status quo.

It's not only that. Most Republicans in the Senate and House are Americans first. They want to get at the truth before just blindly supporting him.

Or they agree with him on policy but view him as corrupt and incompetent.

Never trumpers have hated Trump since way before this Russian nothing burger. There is no evidence of corruption and honestly you sound naive to think that's the task reason.

If they cared about the policies they claim to they would recognize that they are in a very unique position right now to effect change. All they need to know is that Trump is competent enough to sign the legislation they send to him.

They'd rather be the do nothing opposition. .. they are the reason the people elected trump over a dozen established politicians. They are detested.

no they arent. if they were destested, then people would stop voting for them. And supporting literally everything they do.

Aside from Trump's most ardent supporters, everyone hates Trump. That includes moderates and establishment Republicans.
And there is evidence of corruption. The guy settled a Trump university fraud case, is well known for fucking over investors and can't get a loan from a legitimate US bank (which is nuts given his claimed net worth) and clearly lied about his campaign having meetings with Russians (we'll see how far that rabbit hole goes), and various other corruption. Trump is also clearly incompetent, which can create foreign policy nightmares and make it much harder to sell domestic policy to the people. These reasons alone are enough to turn right wingers off. They want a stand-up, ethical guy to carry out the conservative agenda and not blow up the planet. It's pretty easy to see.

First part is true and they do recognize that. There is frustration in Congress over the lack of progress they've made on healthcare. And they know he's incompetent, actually, but will sign off on just about anything they get on his desk. Same result but the opposite reason you're claiming.

I can agree to that but would also add the right actually doesn't have good policy ideas. They're really unpopular, just look at the current healthcare proposals. They're getting something like 25% approval.

Trump supporters were always a minority, a very organized minority on a very fragmented party.

Sessions has been his most loyal backer since day 1 and look what just happened to him lol

And highly educated Republicans generally hate Trump.

The really smart, successful conservatives I know thought he was a total buffoon, voted against him in the primaries but they voted for him in the GE because they want lower taxes. This is reflected in the numbers too.

Legit LOL! Also worth noting that Christie and Guiliani were Trump shills to the point it was embarrassing and they got nothing for it either.

I think the biggest thing that got people to hold there nose and vote Trump was the Supreme Court pick.
