European officials probe claims of huge German car cartel

All I gotta say is...

My BMW is awesome. Keep it up Germany!!

Every other car on the road in the U.K. Is an Audi or a VW

Don't care about monopolys my BMW is the shit

Mercedes BMW Audi are overrated except for their high end stuff. It's just not worth the price tag for the car and more expensive parts/repairs if you're going for like a 328 or C300

European cars are unreliable pieces of shit and they make them hard as fuck to work on.

German cars are good to drive to the airport and back.

Status symbols, high end stuff break just like lower end. Audis are shit. Vws are worse shit. When they break the cost is incredible.

mfw someone tries to brag about their new German car and its not an M, AMG or RS. And no, that M-Sport or AMG lite versions don't count.

Whatever haters.

I hit 75,000 miles in my modded Audi and I only had to repair it once.

Currently have 45,000 miles on my BMW and I've never had to bring it in for repairs. Only did standard maintenance (which you don't have to pay for).

Suck it haters

You paid for everything when you bought it probably 10 times over.

What low expectations.... you SHOULDN'T have ANY problems up until around 130k miles in a American car.

My 2004 Toyota Corolla has 218k miles and have had ZERO fucking issues and it's going strong as fuck

of course a Corolla will last a million miles with very little maintenance- its a weak consumer appliance with no demands from its drivetrain. Now compare with a Japanese car with some actual balls- the Nissan GTR, which has very expensive and frequent maintenance schedule and huge costs if you neglect it.

I'm no hater. I'm in the industry. If there was no such thing as buying cars to impress people no one would ever buy an Audi. The service bays in an Audi dealership are hysterical. I had a 5 series BMW for a company car and it was a cool car, but was in the shop 3x as much as my wife's Toyota. My company specializes in Vehicle Service Contracts....we re-insure them so we know what breaks. We study every model and then put a premium on a warranty so the dealer doesn't get killed. Taking out extreme high end the worst are : Audi, Land Rover, VW, Jaguar, Mini. Then come the BMW and Mercedes. The issue is that components are over complicated and when they fail it's major.

You just compared a Corolla to a BMW...

/thread.

But seriously, yes it's true that Corollas, civics, Camrys tend to be reliable.. essentially because they are simple cars that are built to last.

German cars- even the lowly 3 series BMWs, Audi A4, and C classes are much more sophisticated. This makes them better driving cars (this isn't up for debate, anyone who has spent a decent amount of time in any of the cars I mentioned will tell you exactly why those cars are so highly rated every year). However they sell at a premium and all the extra systems and parts make them more costly to repair. Simply put, German cars are more complicated and more things can go wrong with them.

All I was trying to say in my post is that they're not as unreliable as a lot of people would believe. Most people who are into high end cars are looking to replace before they hit the 80k mile marker anyway.

I'm german and i drive a japanese car. That should tell you everything........

Mercedes is the Toyota of Germany when it comes to quality but not the price.

my dad has had his 94' 5-series for years, and he still drives it. granted, he is a mechanic and knows how to work on it, but the only mechanical issues he has with it are electrical, which are a pain in the ass to work on. that much is true. but the engine-itself is rock-solid. has tons of power and is fun to drive.

some people think the superior power and aesthetics of german cars is worth the extra hassle. if i could afford it, i'd do it.
