I found myself surprised at how happy I was for Chris. I usually can't stand the dude and have held a grudge ever since he snapped Silva's win streak and snapped his leg as well. Was content with him as champ after he defeated Machida and Vitor and thought he'd be there for a while.

Then of course he losses his next 3 fights.. which wouldn't usually bother me but he made many excuses and was salty about the whole thing and I just really hate when fighters do that sort of shit. (My favourite fighter is Jose Aldo you can imagine my disappointment with him these last few years..)

So generally I disliked Weidman. Kelvin on the other hand, I have always loved from the start when he was picked last on TUF and watched him humbly destroy everybodys doubts about him fight after fight and was happy he ended up winning TUF, even against the huge favourite Uriah Hall who looked like a fucking serial killer on the show and you guessed it, l everybody doubted Kelvin then too.

He is the perfect people's underdog and always saves everything for the ring, no matter how unmotivated he seems during training. I tend to favor Kelvin as I know what he is capable of, we all seen it at the end of round 1 and from that moment it seemed like the fight was going just how I expected it.

Chris, even though has been on a 3 fight skid, is a great former champion though. It is easy to forget that when a guy hasn't won for a while and tonight HE was the one I doubted and counted out and then he ended up coming on strong , overcoming the adversity and securing a solid finish.

Kelvin IS NOT an easy fight. He has never been finished and Chris came out and did precisely that even after being rocked early on. I am oddly finding myself very happy for the guy. This would have been 4 in a row and likely would put his position in the UFC in jeopardy, despite his elite skill level..

I guess I just waned to say, great job Chris Weidman.

I also want to make a shout out to Jimmie Rivera who also soundly defeated my pick Thomas Almeida in very impressive fashion. Again, thought Almeida had this one in the bag and I was wrong. Thomas seems to be establishing himself as the iron title contender gatekeeper of the division. And this division is getting HOT.

in b4 he loses three straight again via ko

I guess if you can't see that this fight was made to get Wiedman back in the win column and to remind Gastelum that oh, hey, I really am a welterweight, than I don't know what to say.
