Critics' Reviews for ZOOLANDER NO. 2

Rotten Tomatoes: 23% Approval Rating (30 out of 130 critics like it)

Critics Consensus: Zoolander No. 2 has more celebrity cameos than laughs -- and its meager handful of memorable gags outnumbers the few worthwhile ideas discernible in its scattershot rehash of a script.

Entertainment Weekly - The thing is, if Stiller spent half as much time sharpening the film’s jokes as he did rifling through his Rolodex for celebrity cameos (Willie Nelson, Kiefer Sutherland, Susan Boyle?!), he might’ve coughed up a few laughs. As it is, though, Zoolander No. 2 is embarrassing, lazy, and aggressively unfunny. C-

New York Daily News - Did you like “Zoolander? Good, then you’ll like Zoolander 2. There are also fun sight gags, a hilarious Wilson monologue to Zoolander’s son about a sizzling three-way he was once in with the kid’s mom, and jokes about the fashion world that are so broad you don’t even need to be on fleeck to get them. - 4/5

Richard Roeper - It takes a long time for Will Ferrell’s insanely evil Jacobim Mugatu to make an appearance, and credit to Ferrell for livening things up and scoring some of the biggest laugh lines in the film when he insults some famous fashion designers. But it’s far too little, far too late. 1.5/4

Rolling Stone - Zoolander 2 sweats its silly ass off to please. The results are scattershot. But when it works — oh, baby. There's a bit with Justin Bieber and a selfie that, well, no spoilers. Stiller throws everything he can to induce hysteria. Even when he misses the mark, you applaud his effort. 2.5/4

ZOOLANDER International Trailer; First Trailer Breaks Record

Zoolander-2-Stiller-Cruz-120115-Dragonlord.jpg

Paramount Pictures has released a new international trailer for Zoolander 2 featuring lots of new footage. The first Zoolander 2 trailer has broken the record for the most online views for a comedy trailer since the promo launched Nov. 18, having been watched 52.2 million times in its first week of release. The previous record for most views for a comedy trailer was Dumb and Dumber To, which had 49 million views in one week.

Ben Stiller directs himself as Derek Zoolander in the comedy sequel. The film also stars Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell, Penélope Cruz, Kristen Wiig, Fred Armisen, Milla Jovovich, Christine Taylor, Justin Theroux and Kyle Mooney. The film is written by Theroux, Stiller, Nick Stoller and John Hamburg.

In the film, Stiller’s fashion model Derek Zoolander teams up with his rival Hansel (Wilson) to prevent the assassinations of the most beautiful people in the world — including stars like Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Usher and Lenny Kravitz. Zoolander 2 opens February 12, 2016.

First Full-Length Trailer for ZOOLANDER 2 Starring Ben Stiller

Zoolander-2-Wilson-Stiller-Cruz-Dragonlord.jpg

A decade and a half after he saved the Prime Rib of Propecia with the power of a single fierce look, Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) is back in the new full-length trailer for Zoolander 2, along with his BFF Hansel (Owen Wilson). And you know what that means: things are about to get really, really, ridiculously good-looking — and really, really ridiculously stupid — up in here.

Modeling is a young person’s game, and in Zoolander 2 it looks like Derek and Hansel discover to their horror that they are not so young anymore. However, it turns out Derek’s skills are still relevant after all when a villain sets out to kill the world’s most beautiful people — which according to Interpol’s files include Demi Lovato, Usher, Justin Bieber, Lenny Kravitz, and Miley Cyrus.

Zoolander 2 brings back Will Ferrell as Jacobim Mugatu, and introduces Penelope Cruz as an Interpol agent. Justin Bieber stars as himself, and Benedict Cumberbatch as… well, you’ll see. The very best part of the trailer, might be Kristen Wiig, who is nearly unrecognizable as what appears to be some unholy combination of Donatella Versace and Lady Gaga.

Zoolander 2 arrives in theaters February 12, 2016. Also starring are Christine Taylor, Billy Zane, Cyrus Arnold, Fred Armisen, Olivia Munn, Kanye West, and many more.

Laughed several times at the trailer. Cumberbatch's cameo is hilarious. I'm optimistic about the movie.

I'm not watching ANYTHING.

The first is one of my all time favorite comedies and I want to go into the sequel with no spoiled teasers/trailers, cameos etc.

In fact, this is my last post in this thread.

GOOD DAY, sir.

Laughed several times at the trailer. Cumberbatch's cameo is hilarious. I'm optimistic about the movie.

He seems like the least funniest famous person ever but he managed to get a laugh out of me. This movie might be good after all.

I hope this is at least half as good as the original Zoolander. If so, I'll be satisfied.

I hope there is a gasoline fight.

Looks decent...... and being optimistic, there is no chance it could be as bad as Dumb and Dumber 2.

Looks shockingly decent, but I'm weary of all long break sequels after the absolute travesty that was Dumb And Dumber 2.

Expectations are firmly in check.

OK trailer was funny, that's a good sign. I LOVED the first Zoolander.

the first zoolander is a top 3 comedy for me, so i hope this is just half as good and i will be content.

I can't tell if my standards are slipping, or if this actually looks halfway decent.

Either way, in.

Hahaha . . . Hahahaha . . .

Probably won't be quite as good as the original but looks funny nonetheless. Zoolander for a new generation!

Original is one of my favourite comedies of all time too btw.

I'm surprised it looks funny. I vowed to hate the first one but loved it against my will.

On the fence after seeing the trailer. I don't like Kristen Wiig though, she just tries way too hard in everything she's in.
