I just bought an iPhone 7 (if I had the choice I wouldve waited for an iPhone 8) and I realized that you can't listen to youtube audio in the background in the newer operating systems. Ive been using an iPhone 4s for years because im not a materialistic fuck. So I basically want to jailbreak the phone so I can lock the screen while listening to youtube videos.

My question is: is jailbreaking still safe these days? I used to jailbreak my phones a lot around 2011-2013 and it was pretty great. Also can you still download all app store apps for free?

Honestly though, i've not heard of anyone jailbreaking a phone since it was like 2011 and i was in high school, people thought they were hot shit getting Plants vs Zombies for free. Forgot it was even a thing until now.

Well, OP. You've already fucked up by buying an Apple product. That's what you get for caving into their restrictive practices.

Android > Windows Phone > Apple

If you jailbreak, can you install future iOS update patches? It's more important to me to have the latest iOS.

Whenever I read about some bad thing with iOS, it's because people jailbreaked or got apps from suspect sources.

Why don't they want to let you play YT audio in the background anyway? The Android YT app does the same thing. You have to listen to YT vids in your browser if you want it on in the background.

so you buy youtube red

you can listen to YouTube in the background through Safari

once you get to the YouTube webpage press and hold the refresh button to go into Desktop mode

now play your video and then swipe up the control panel

you can play the video from the lock screen

Idk man, my ex-housemate bought an old ipod touch, jailbroke it & provided FHD UFC PPV's for free in the old apartment.
