Which fighters would have the best chance at defeating these current champions? Why?

Conor at LW?

Tyron at WW?

Stipe at HW?

Lw probably nate,he has the boxing to avoid alot of conors set ups and the cardio to make him wary of looking for the kill

WW,rory he would keep him pressed against the fence again and tee off

Hw Jds

Conor would likely lose to Khabib and Jorge Masvidal at LW. However I don't think Jorge drops to 155 and gets a shot.

Woodley can lose to Lawler, Maia, Masvidal and Wonderboy.

Stipe can lose to Overeem, Barnett, and can lose to Hunt if they stand and even Werdum. HW is a place where anyone can lose to almost anyone.

All three of those fighters are Temp Champions. Will be gone within a year. Anyone in the top 5 has a chance. But what do i know i'm a yellow belt.

Khabib-ferg
Masvidal-( larkin) had a great chance
Cain-jds-ngannou

I think RDA at LW would be a problem for Conor. Actually, now that I think about it, if RDA-Conor had happened as planned and RDA won, it really would have changed the course of recent history in the UFC.

Tony Ferguson maybe Khabib and Nate Diaz in a rematch. Seems to have trouble against long reached fighters with good boxing. However the Khabib fight would be interesting. Conor would either catch Khabib coming in looking to clinch or Khabib would get inside and manhandle Conor at will. The only problem is that Khabib very rarely actually shoots. The majority of his takedowns are from the clinch not from the outside/striking range. Chad mendes had the perfect style to beat Conor, because of his wrestling/shooting style from the striking distance and gave Conor various problems inside the rounds 1 and 2 until he gassed out and Conor lit him up. IMO The person to beat Conor is either a good powerful wrestler with a good double leg and transitions or a tall lanky boxer that is durable like Nate Diaz. Durability is also crucial into beating Conor we seen this with Nate Diaz. I think Frankie Edgar stylistically matches up very well against mcgregor if he can stick to a smart game plan and wrestle fuck him.

Good post and I agree with what you said about Khabib vs Conor. What about the other 2 champs, who do you think has the style to beat Woodley and Stipe?

Possibly. Unless he was just due for a bad performance.
If Edgar gets called on short notice instead of Mendes, we probably have a much different landscape.
Even Mendes deciding to lnp changes a bunch most likely, but The former likely changes everything.

Well the best option to beat Tyron Woolley would most likely be another third fight with Stephen Thompson again lol. But maybe mai if he can takedown woodley. Mai's wrestling has improved but I don't think it's that good enough to beat Tyron Woodley's. The only other real threat assides wonderboy is Rory macDonald and kelvin gastelum. But gastelum now fighting at middleweight and Rory fighting in bellator, neither are going to fight Tyron anytime soon. I don't like mai fighting Tyron I think it is a really bad match up for him du to Tyron's wrestling. Regardless though IMO mai if he beats masdival should fight Tyron next. I could perhaps see masdival ginving Tyron some troubles particularly with his boxing, pressure, and volume of his punches and has decent takedown defence of his own. However Tyron will imo be too much for masdival with both his ability to cover distance, power, and his offensive wrestling will play a big factor. However masdival may have a better chance than mia simply becausehe does not solely rely on his ability to get an instant takedown. He can actaully stand in trade with woodley.

As for heavyweight, an healthy Cain will beat any heavyweight. However I am concerned that heavyweight may no longer exist. Perhaps in the near future Francis Ngou may have a chance to beat stipe with more fights and time that is. Junior dos santos may actually also have the best chance to defeat stipe again in a rematch. However it depends on how Jds chin holds up to this point. I think stipe has improved since the first jds fight. He mixes his takedowns much better now and seems to even further improve his boxing and puts more power/plants more into his shots. I beleive he will be the more durable and complete fighter on the rematch. If he makes it a dog fight with junior he's the aggressor and mixes his wrestling with his boxing he should win. Even if he is not taking him down he is still making junior second guessing and allowing more strikes to be thrown while standing. However Junior has a real good chance at winning too, especailly with his takedown defence and footwork. Footwork will be key for junior to stick and move.

Solid post, m8.

Yeah, maybe the Woodley vs Wonderboy rematch was a little too soon, there just wasn´t enough time for either fighter to really change their game significantly. Alhtough I disagree with the decision of the judges, the truth is that we won´t see a Woodley vs Thompson III anytime soon...
