When Sam Alvey was limping he ask Stann should Sam Alvey take Leites down lol. I literally wanted to stick my hand through my tv and strangle him lol. Dude is fucking clueless. He has no place doing MMA commentary.

I heard him latch onto Brian Stann's description of Diego as one of the last true "blood and guts" fighters and then proceed to describe every fighter as a "blood and guts" fighter.

I'm pretty sure he asked that in every fight where someone was obviously losing.

haha, I can't remember Stann's response, but it was something along the lines of "absolutely not."

It was a He's losing the striking battle and his leg is stiffening up, he needs to do something different to break the rhythm

Sam was walking around like a new born robot.

Yeh he's a fucking bum and doesn't know shit about mma

Its now the cool thing to shit on new mma announcers. I thought he did ok for a hype guy. Loved it when he was "lights out in nashville" for that platty KO.

I remember Todd from WWE, about 12 years ago, so I have a soft spot for him.

As far as commentators go, I like his enthusiasm more than Anik's monotone style.

He was thoroughly getting outclassed on the feet and basically couldn't do a damn thing to Thales.

He absolutely should have tried to take him down at that point.

What was the worst that could happen? He lose? You mean, the same result as what happened by him standing the whole fight?

Stann said no very firmly lol. It was somewhere in the second round lol.

Umm you do realize Thales Leites is a Nova Uniao black belt right ? A very high level BJJ guy and Sam Alvey is a white belt at best lol. He would of wrapped Sam Alvey like a pretzel if they went to the ground.

honestly I dont mind him
he is learning, he comes off as a well spoken person that asks questions rather then stating them
he knows he is in the second seat , makes sense they hired him as he is a gap between the "new mma fan" and expert

commentary play off each other, as horrible as goldie was he did ok with Rogan next to him
Stann is good too, he just needs work on more "colorful" comments as Todd isnt going to provide it

Todd should have asked if Sam should use a Stone Cold Stunner. It would be just as stupid.

His commentating is funny. I enjoy it if the fight are horrible. It keeps the fight more enjoying. lol

Alvey was essentially fighting on one leg the entire fight. That first leg kick damn near crippled him.

I brought this up in the 'time for a new announce team' thread. We ve heard Rogan boast about not having to prep for his UFC gig, but this is such a ridiculous question...it shows a profound lack of preparation/fighter research, knowledge of the product and even common sense awareness that a guy with a bum ankle can't even perform a td. Shocking. I'll take the gig! (I'm a broadcaster lol)

Isn't that the play by play announcers job? Call the fight and ask the color guy questions? A lot of air to cover when not much is happening

He comes from Rasslin. Give him a break!
