I spoke to Bruce Buffer for a piece on him and he gave his thoughts on the GSP vs Bisping bout that has been up in the air recently and he firmly believes that it will definitely take place. He said:

“Insight wise I have to keep quiet but I will tell you that with my friendship with GSP and Michael Bisping, I believe it’s going to happen. I’m friends with both of them, I was texting George after I had heard the announcement and he can’t wait to be back. Basically his answer to me was that he can’t wait to share the Octagon with me again it’s been a long time.”

Any thoughts on this news or the bout? I personally don't think GSP should've been gifted the title shot as soon as he has returned but if the business is about selling tickets that's the way to do it.

There's no way Bisping is fighting GSP over #1 Romero.

I 100% agree that Romero should be fighting but from a business perspective think how many casual MMA fans it would attract for a GSP return.

It's almost the same format as what the WWE do to generate an untold amount of hype. They're not considering the actual dedicated MMA fans though, would much rather see Bisping vs Romero.

I hope you get banned for this post

GSP's my favorite fighter but Bisping needs to fight Romero.

I guess they don't want a title fight where the champion is a ten to one underdog.

Mine too. (Of those who remain unpopped)
I hate instant title shots, and while I like the matchup, I prefer lineups that have a purpose.

Joe Rogan put it best on his podcast when he said that MMA is a sport and the UFC must honour the rule that the number one contender should get the title shot. Bringing back retired veterans and jumping people to the front of the queue runs the risk of making UFC too similar to sports entertainment and not an actual competitive artform.

And I agree.
-NO gifted title shots
-All title shots should be based on MERIT by EARNING your place in line
- NO "name" signings of amateurs who want to dabble on the big stage

Lost at "GSP can't wait to share the octagon with me"

Think that's the consensus of most fight fans, especially the ones willing to debate MMA on a forum like this and not the ones who are only interested when McGregor is fighting.
What are your thoughts on the fact that there is talk of CM Punk fighting in the UFC again against Mike Jackson; the guy who lost to Mickey Gall before Punk?

Bisping is a paper champ who is scared of the divisions best. It's pointless for GSP to fight for a belt at 185 if he doesn't plan on defending it. Then this whole mess and hold up,would be because of Bisping getting payed. If that's the case do the same for the Diaz bros so we can get them back in action.

Worst announcer in the industry. I watched a really old ufc and buffer did a good job. He needs to drop the stupid screaming

Nah I think the screaming makes it! All the jumping and screaming is miles better than the boring announcers I've seen at smaller promotions, doesn't create anywhere near as much of an atmosphere.

I would add: earn your place in the division in which you want to compete. Being a champ (or former champ) in one weight class shouldn't grant you a title shot in another. This isn't boxing where weight classes are 3 or 4 pounds apart.
