Relson Gracie's getting me on a rizin card in Japan n mid May.he's bringing me to Hawaii to train to get ready to fight told me to lose about 20 pounds ,as lately I've been bigger than I am normally.I've been focusing on my strength lately only been lifting about 2 months ,and I haven't done any cardio. Due to medical reasons anyways I'm curious as to how you guys would train for a big promotion card. so many top mma guys train so differently I thought this could be a fun discussion.
 
I would move from the heavy lifting (squats and deadlifts) to more explosive lifts like cleans and snatch or others as you get closer to fight day. That may help you lose some weight.
 
Once I get my weight down some more I will I fight 170 and some 185 in like 245 now lol need t walk around at 205 again once I get to 205 I'll start my camp it's hard t roll hard sprint ect when you gain so much so I'm gonna roll and lift and do light cardio until I hit 220 then I'll add in my sprints ect for conditioning
 
Have you hit up the Dieting/Supplement discussion forum? Most of your weight loss is going to come from changes to diet.

Yeah I'm dieting. Now keeping calories to 1500 a day t 1700 I'm now focused on becoming a stronger athletic man that's the only thing I've nvr really trained before I have all the technique I need just need to get to Tim Kennedy level strength lol I feel I need to lift for a good 2 years as a welter weight is love my max squat and dead lift to be 450 and 520 eventually I workout with 5 reps of 305 and 290 deads I've only lifted for 2 months so far so I still have easy gains to come I feel

Cleans sure snatches are very dangerous and take a veryyyy long time to develope the shoulder flexibility I have weak shoulders so I doubt I'll ever attempt snatches but clean and jerks yes

You can do a variation of the snatch.

With a dumbbell unilateral. You can do hang snatch with a dumbbell too.

But if your shoulder is not good enough for it right now, don't do them.
 
Guys always seem to talk about strength and cardio. but muscle endurance being able to go for a choke, and not burning out arms ect , is also something I need to figure out. when to add, I guess after lifting would be best. I never see guys talk about this.
 
Rizin doesn't have a card in mid May.

Yeah nothing he's posted makes much sense. Too many traumatic brain injuries is bad.


That said, typically people train in blocks for competitions. They would do a strength block for so long, then as it gets closer to the competition, they would do a power block, and then finally focus on cardio and technique for the remaining time before the fight. With two months left, there's not much you can do besides cram in technique and cardio to drop weight and get technically proficient.
 
im a natural 190 im up 55 pounds of at in my gut it doesnt help me trust me

Why don't you talk to Relson about this? No trying to be dick with you but he should be helping you.
 
Tbh i love relson to death, hes done alot for me. Let's me live with him, feeds me brazilian bbq all day ect. But he hates me doing wrestling, weights or mma. When im there all i can do is roll. He still believes all that's needed is helios jj. He even hates me doing open guards lol but yeah im going in may to train, and relsons gonna talk to rickson about getting me on at end of year with rizin since krons been on it. i wish hed do another gracie fight challenge.
