So it appears that the Trump administration will be going after recreational marijuana. Seems like a losing battle to me, I'm interested in what everyone else thinks? I don't see this gaining much support from Trump's base, though Ripskater may support it if he thinks marijuana lets the devil in you or something like that.

But the libbies are calling Sessions racist, therefore ill support him.

Fucking idiots.

I'm not a fan of using tax dollars and resources to go after pot heads.

That'll be a good way to destroy nascent industry and businesses that have sprung up in these states as well as millions in revenue and thousands of jobs.

Mexico will be happy...

I swear to fucking christ, I don't understand how conservatives make sense of this kind of shit. "Small government! States rights! Just kidding, fuck that, law and order! Surveillance state! Prohibition!"

Fucking nonces.

Don't agree here, spend more time going after sanctuary cities. If potheads want to smoke themselves stupid, let them.

Well Jeff sessions is awful so its not surprising. He also said good people don't smoke Marijuana recently. This guy is a relic.

Just imagine the level of civil asset forfeiture that's coming. Colorado has produced over a billion in revenue already. The feds are going to rob Colorado. I hope people actually stand up.

Stupid shit.

It is total nonsense, especially always coming from conservatives. I can see it coming from huge liberals who love the babysitter role, but they do not do this type of crap.
Leave people alone if they are not hurting anyone. Seems simple.

What action are they going to take? State governments have no obligation to enforce federal law.

Indeed, but neither can they prevent the Feds from doing anything.

They can go after bank accounts, property, growers, sellers, consumers, everyone.

Congress needs to act and change the way it is scheduled.

Unbelievable. Cartels are having a giant celebration today. Fucking idiots. FUck TRUMP FUCK Sessions. FUCK all these freedom stripping pieces of shit. 20 trillion dollar debt and we're going after THIS???!!!!!!

The Genie is out of the bottle and the Feds are still fighting a war they can't win. 28 states have either medicinal or recreational marijuana use. 17 more states are currently planning to introduce legislation to legalize marijuana. Washington is filled with idiots that are bought and paid for by corporations that oppose marijuana legalization, we are led by morons.

This story just published this month.

Here's what's driving lawmakers working to legalize recreational pot in 17 more states

When Massachusetts voters overwhelmingly approved a ballot measure in November to legalize recreational marijuana, Josh Miller saw this as a sign that his time had finally arrived.

In the fall, three other states joined Massachusetts in passing recreational pot ballot measures: California, Maine and Nevada. Four other states — Alaska, Colorado, Oregon and Washington — have legalized marijuana through ballot initiatives as well.

But this year lawmakers in 17 states — Connecticut, Minnesota and Hawaii among them — have become emboldened enough to introduce more than two dozen measures to legalize recreational pot for adults and tax its sale.

The war is over Washington, stop wasting our time and money fighting the will of the American people.

Yeah this one isn't going to end well for the feds or the taxpayers. Please don't waste our money and revitalize the cartels.

It's like sanctuary cities for drugs. Yes, I'm being provocative.

But it really is the same thing. You have states flouting federal law and the fed letting it happen. I have no problem with the fed cracking down on this and I have no problem with the states not helping them. It's completely absurd for the fed to not enforce its laws. And, yes, I said the same thing about illegal immigration. It's not the states' job but it is the fed's.

We'll see. Not much support for it nationwide and I doubt the state governments are going to want to give up that tax revenue. It's about time Congress gets on the right side of history.

This is just ignorant here.

Spicer suggested that the administration is opposed to encouraging recreational marijuana use and connected it with the crisis with opioid addiction in some areas.

“When you see something like the opioid addiction crisis blossoming in so many states around this country, the last thing we should be doing is encouraging people,” he said.

Maybe these assholes should catch up on current events.

States with medical marijuana laws have fewer deaths from opioid overdoses compared to states that do not allow medical marijuana, according to new research.

Opioids for chronic pain, like OxyContin, Percocet and Vicodin, are meant to suppress pain. Recent data shows that not only are prescriptions for these drugs up, but rates of overdose and death are increasing as well. New research published Monday in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine shows that states with medical marijuana laws have rates of anticipated opioid-related deaths 25% lower than states that don't allow it.
