Is the best thing invented. Been watching all kinds of movies. Just saw the new phantasm move.(sucked) who needs dvd, netflix etc..?

Do you use 123 movies? I don't have a fire stick, but I run it through my Xbox One and Chrome cast. I have cable with all of the channels, so I get HBO GO and all of the other streaming services that come with having cable these days, but I don't have Netflix and just use 123 Movies if I want to watch something obscure.

I'm new to these devices, I can see anything I want practically.

Firestick rules. Cancelled netflix a few days after buying one and installing Exodus.

what do you mean? you get HBO GO and such for free?

I assume people are referring to installing Kodi onto an Amazon Firestick?

If so I reckon a standard Android box is better. The Firestick is not very powerful. I had to put a special lightweight version of Kodi on mine before it was reliable. Normal Kodi builds like The Beast didn't work well at all.

I have no use for them. I buy a no log VPN and just download anything I want to watch.

Kodi, Exodus etc works a dream on mine.

I'm just dreading the day they put a stop to it.

I have 4 in our house and we all use them 24/7.

There is added convenience in some ways. For moves that aren't popular it can be easier and quicker just to stream it.

One thing people forget is that some of the Kodi plugins use P2P, mostly bittorrent, to stream. So you're just as exposed when using bittorrent when using these. So either way, you need a VPN.

I have streaming sites, no need for a stick. I also have kodi but dont have much need for it. Ive never had a problem finding what Im looking for.

You can download kodi for free on your computer, no android box needed

Yes I have it on a laptop for when we travel abroad. The Firestick is convenient with a remote etc for the family TV.

I've just downloaded the latest kodi copy on to my Amazon 8Gb Firesticks.

I do them all for the guys at work and no problems so far.

A friend of mine spoke about this but I literally know nothing about it.

QUESTIONS:
So, this is a one time purchase? Say, $50-$80. Its a flash drive you put in your...tv? Then how does it work? As I understand it, you pay for no subscription, so wheres the feed coming from? How can that last?

Right now, for TV, I use live cafe.net. If I need a show, ill go on free project. If I need a fight, ill sit firstrow. If I need a movie, I either google the stream or the torrent.

There's a thread on kodi here

Madmick made a great thread about all the hardware options out there for HTPC's

OK so you're putting vanilla Kodi on and then separate plugins?

I tend to install a build on top of it like Beast or whatever - I think maybe the first builds I tried were too large for the stick's specs.

How do you do that, do you have to compile files on your os first or something? I just got kodi/exodus on a firestick the other day. Now Im getting them for all of the kids along with playstation vue. Beats the fuck out of paying $200 month for terrible directv service.

Did you try changing the skin?

I don't know how loaded your stick is, but I'd recommend you change from Exodus to Specto. The developers stopped upgrading Exodus and have moved on to Specto. It looks the same, acts the same, but gets updated regularly.

USTVNOW will give you the major OTA channels, they won't be your locals but you'll still be able to watch NBC, CBS, etc

There's tons more options out there for kodi. Do some digging on youtube, you'll be amazed at what Kodi can do.
