So my cat ran off last week, which is normal for an uncut, virile tomcat....but this time he did not return. He's obviously met an untimely demise of some sort, and now sadness is everywhere. He was just too damn friendly with strangers and one of them probably whacked him...bastards.

He was but a malnourished, disheveled mess when I plucked him out of the eatery and brought him home a year ago. He deserved better than the lowly life of neglect and abuse usually afforded to animals in a 3rd world country. And I had promised my kid I would find a cat for her, TODAY, if I had to drink beers in every eatery in town for 12 hours...I would bring home a cat. And I did.

We loved him, all of us, and I'm sure he loved us, too. He was part of our family....and now he's gone. RIP, sweet prince.

I don't know if it actually works or not, but if your cat runs off, you're supposed to put his litter box outside, and apparently he can smell it from miles away or something like that. It might be a little too late, but it's always worth a shot. Good luck.

There's a cat that hangs around my house that I feed sometimes. He took off for about a month and a half once. Thought he was dead. Then one day I went out to check the mail and he was asleep on the railing of the porch.

Seems you've given up to soon, have you conducted a search?

Maybe he'll still show up, bud. Sorry you're sad though man. I would be too. Animals are part of the family. I hope he returns.

I suspect your pussy found some pussy.

I'm sorry man. I had a cat run away myself. It was a painful experience. Unfortunately there's a risk when you have outside cats.
I moved recently and don't trust the people here, had to make my cat stay inside.

Don't give up!!! Put food outside and his letterbox and he will hopefully make it back!

I'm not exactly a 'believer' but please let this cat return home. Also these days neighborhoods sometimes have Facebook accounts for neighborhood functions and situations like these, maybe look into that or put up some flyers. Sometimes they run into a loving person who thinks they are a stray and adopt them.

Wish you the best, I hope he returns. And please, if he does, make him an INDOOR CAT. Cats statistically live 7x longer if they are indoor. Take care and don't give up on the little guy!

To paraphrase Stephen King in Pet Semetary... Cats are the gangsters of the animal world. They live fast adventurous lives and die violent, untimely deaths.

Sorry for your loss sherbro.

Thanks, guys. He never had a litter box and I trained him to urinate in the bathroom drain and poop close by. I've put his food outside.....miss that little guy.....

Don't lose hope. I had a cat run away for six months and come back.

only three reasons why a cat leaves but don't come back:

1-got taken by someone who likeded it
2-got eatened by wild animal, if you live by open space of any kind
3-got runneded over by the car or truck whilst zigging when should've zagged

sorry for your loss.
I lost my cat in the great Oakland Firestorm of '93? left home, entire neighborhood burnt down.
cat gone.

The cat knows your scent and voice. Also the sound of your car. They can tell the difference of engine noise. She'll find her way back to you.

My first cat ran away too, feelsbadman...reallll bad. sorry to hear dude.

on another note, I took the day off work yesterday to take my 16 year old cat to the vet ... poor thing hadn't stomached a meal in like 6 days. was worried it was time to put her down.

she picking up now, but man it made me realize I'm not ready for when THAT day comes...

not really a fan of the double standard at my work, that if you take a day off to take a cat to the vet its like fuckin hilarious, or not a big deal....but if its your dog, its all "OH MY GOSH THE POOR THING! BEST WISHES TO THE GUY! I HOPE YOU'RE OKAY?!"

i got riled up at work pretty good today

Been there. Searched the entire neighborhood for nights on end, distributed "missing cat" papers, offered rewards... unfortunately he never returned.

It sucks. But maybe he didn't die, you never know.

And as mentioned above, it does happen that cats won't return home for weeks or even months and then, out of nowhere, pop up at your door.

Seems you've given up to soon, have you conducted a search?
"Philippines" =/

I was about to say the same thing until I read TS say someone probably whacked him, and then saw the location.
I'm holding out hope for you TS, don't give up !
I would never give up looking for my babies. I would be absolutely devastated and probably wouldn't be able to eat or sleep =/
