Russian President Vladimir Putin’s favorability among Americans is at its highest point since 2003, with Republicans behind his gains, according to a new Gallup poll released Tuesday.

Twenty-one percent of Americans have a favorable view of the Russian president in the survey — up from 13 percent in 2015 — while 72 percent have an unfavorable view.

Putin’s favorability is up 20 percentage points among Republicans, with 32 percent holding a favorable view of him today, compared to 12 percent in 2015.

Ten percent of Democrats have a favorable view of Putin today, compared to 15 percent in 2015. The Russian leader’s favorability among independents is up 11 percentage points, with 23 percent having a favorable view of him today compared to 12 percent two years ago.

32% of Republicans hold a favorable view of Vladimir Putin, up from 12% in 2015. I guess they really support the invasion of Crimea - I mean what else could explain that +20% jump in a year or so?
 
I don't support us starting a new cold war nor do I believe we should have bad relations with the leader of a foreign power. Does that make me a putin supporter?
 
Trump brought to light how much the leaders of France, Germany, and Sweden fucked up and now Putin doesn't seem as bad.
 
4 years ago liberals including Barack Obama laughed at Mitt Romney for calling Russia a threat. Now liberals believe Putin is the biggest threat since Hitler. Things change in a few years.
 
It's amazing what a few years of skillful propaganda, preying on a disdain for objectivity and intelligence, will do to a culture.

Since day one Trumps favorability towards Putin was getting them cooperating in bombing all islamists to allacha.
 
I mean, it's not like Russia is invading countries, killing civilians, and shooting down airliners.

No wonder they are flavour of the month.
