That would perhaps be the worst W/L ratio of any fighter considered elite, ever.

The best LW and P4P of all time is 2-1 against LWs

Well the greatest LHW and HW of all time, Randy Couture, doesnt have the prettiest record either. 19-11.

Perfect example of why you can't look at records in a vacuum. You also have to consider who they fought, when they fought and perhaps even how they fought.

He also didn't lose half of those fights at Lightweight.

Machida at Heavyweight.
GSP, Hughes, Nick, Rory at 170
Draw with Fitch.

That's why stats are somewhat pointless like in other sports.

And if he loses tonight his record at lightweight would still be 11-3-1

He took fights he probably shouldn't have. Machida, Diaz, and others were much larger than him.

BJ is 11-3 at LW.

tell me what his best LW win is. impress me.

counting W-L's to evaluate fighters in 2017

Bj always wanted to fight Opponents that were more than capable of beating him, one of the reasons he's considered a legend. Here's this lw fighter wanting fights with machida, GSP, Fitch, Rory McDonald, Nick Diaz, Matt Hughes etc. He wanted to fight Frankie for a third time after losing to him twice already. He enjoys being the underdog and trying to prove people wrong. There are not many fighters with that mind set any more

Sherk (36-4), Gomi (35-12). Came up directly from LW to beat Hughes (45-9) at WW.

As a matter of fact, he's making that same mistake again tonight -- fighting somebody who's way out of his league (at this stage). I just hope we don't see Walking Tall BJ. If so, Yair's going to brutalize him.

One of the greatest Thaiboxers ever has 50 losses, but it's for the same reason BJ has so many.

They fought many guys at higher weight classes who had big height, reach, strength, weight etc advantages over them.

Some people look at the numbers only without looking deeper into the actual story of each individual fight.

They say the numbers don't lie, but they don't tell the whole story either, sometimes they barely tell you anything.

I didn't know Frankie Edgar was fighting tonight or had a record that shitty.
