Vitaly Bigdash appears to have his heart set on a lengthy reign.

Bigdash battered and bloodied Aung La N Sang across five rounds and cruised to a unanimous decision to retain his middleweight crown in the One Championship “Quest for Power” main event on Saturday at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia. The 32-year-old champion improved to 9-0.

A replacement for the injured Marcin Prachnio, Sang did not enjoy his experience. Bigdash struck for repeated takedowns and hammered away with sustained bursts of ground-and-pound. Fatigue and resignation took hold of the challenger, who mustered little in the way of meaningful resistance, saw his four-fight winning streak snapped in decisive fashion and fell to 19-10.

Meanwhile, the once-beaten Martin Nguyen knocked out former two-division Deep champion Kazunori Yokota in the first round of their featherweight co-headliner. Nguyen, 8-1, brought it to a close with punches 3:36 into Round 1.

After a tepid start, the two men traded kicks. Nguyen connected with a blistering counter right that floored the Japanese veteran and left him defenseless against the blows that followed. Yokota, 25-7-3, has suffered back-to-back defeats, both of them finishes.

Elsewhere, Turkish prospect Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev was disqualified in the first round of his lightweight clash with Georgi Stoyanov. An illegal kick closed the proceedings 88 seconds into Round 1.

Arslanaliev, 4-1, stuffed a takedown attempt, assumed top position and got busy with ground-and-pound. Stoyanov, 20-11, tried to scramble free, only to be met with a soccer kick to the head while seated against the fence. Though he appeared to block most of the impact, the foul nevertheless resulted in the disqualification.

In other action, Anthony Engelen knocked out A.J. Lias Mansor 1:43 into the first round of their featherweight tilt; Vincent Latoel took a unanimous decision from Vaughn Donayre in a three-round battle at 155 pounds; Igor Subora captured a unanimous verdict over Sherif Mohamed in a 15-minute light heavyweight confrontation; and Su Noto brought down Chan Heng with punches 2:30 into the first round of their featherweight affair.
