Jordan Spieth's 13th Hole Pretty Much Sums Up How We All Feel

Spieth shanked things on a whole different level today at The Open. He did pretty well getting back on course.

Sometimes, a great big shitty thing happens to you. You've just come off of a long list of recent accolades, you think you've finally found your stroke, and then you shank one into a glitched-out, off-screen realm of non-existence.

It's enough to make you question faith in yourself. How did something that felt so solid get pulled out from under you? Does this mistake speak to a flawed inner quality? Are there any horse socks?

But you didn't die. You haven't been scrubbed from the ledger. You still have to swing that fucking stick.

Adjust yourself, exhibit impeccable manners—actually, now is the most important time to be polite; you are in fact being tested—and get back to it. By nature, crawling out of the muck is an ugly process, so you just have to try and make things look as pretty as possible while doing it.

And sometimes, you actually just need to think of that glitched-out shot as just that: a glitch. It's not the norm. Nor really your fault in some ways. In fact, you're actually still pretty damn good at what you do.

UPDATE:

Despite the rocky start, Spieth went on to win the 2017 British Open, edging out Matt Kuchar with a -12 to -9 victory.

He even tried to nut-slap his caddie afterward. A helluva way to go out.
