Match ends, Ipswich Town 0, Norwich City 1.
Norwich extended their unbeaten league run over East Anglian rivals Ipswich to nine games with a win at Portman Road.
James Maddison netted the only goal of the derby on the hour to give Daniel Farke's side their fourth consecutive away victory in the Championship.
Hosts Ipswich wasted a number of first-half opportunities with defender Jonas Knudsen hitting the post early on.
Norwich climb to sixth in the table, while Ipswich, who have lost four of their past five games, slip to 11th.
The Canaries, who have not been beaten by Ipswich since April 2009, have now won four away matches in a row for the first time since March 2015.
Maddison settled a tight but entertaining derby by slotting home a right-foot effort for his third goal of the season.
The midfielder found space on the break for the visitors and picked his spot effortlessly from the edge of the area past stranded Ipswich goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski.
It was the fifth time he has been involved in a goal for Norwich in the past four games with three goals and two assists.
Ipswich threatened little by way of an equaliser aside from Martyn Waghorn's late chip over Angus Gunn's crossbar.
Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy told BBC Radio Suffolk:
"I thought there was little in it, and I thought we were the better team in the first half. We had the better chances, but didn't take them.
"They opened us up once, and with a bit of quality, they scored. They shut up shop and became very organised, and that limited us.
"Maybe we haven't got that little bit of zip, and we lost our momentum towards the end.
"It's bitterly disappointing for me, the fans and the players. I would hope they look at results and say we are playing pretty well, but we are not getting results."
Norwich manager Daniel Farke told BBC Radio Norfolk:
"It is the sweetest win we have had so far this season, it's really special. We totally deserved to win this game.
"I think, especially in the second half, we were better in possession and created more chances.
"The support was fantastic, I am happy we are able to give the fans this present, and bring this win back.
"It's a good feeling that we are able to transport a close game to the end."
