As Ongun went to the floor, several Fenerbahce players surrounded him, forming a human shield.

As more projectiles, including drinks, flags and a cigarette lighter, rained down, Ongun was able to be treated.

A tight game eventually ended goal less, as Fenerbahce did not have a single shot on a target all night.

The biggest stories came from the crowd - as well as their unfortunate interaction with the linesman, Galatasaray fans also displayed an impressive tifo of Rocky Balboa before the game began.

The result leaves Galatasaray with a six-point league lead in the Turkish Super Lig, eight points clear of their sixth-placed rivals.

The hosts had several good chances, former West Ham United forward Sofaine Feghouli having a shot cleared off the line by Roman Neustadter after just six minutes.

Ex-Swansea target man Bafetimbi Gomis also went close, but his shot was saved by Carlos Kameni.
