Gareth Bale has been working hard to recover from a calf injury which has kept him sidelined for both club and country.

The Real Madrid ace posted a video of himself back in training with the Spanish giants having missed a succession of games since picking up his latest injury in late September.

Although not fit enough to train with the rest of the squad, the Welshman looked close to a return as he was put through his paces.

Bale trained alone as he stretched out his legs with a few lung-bursting shuttle runs before dusting off the rust with some gentle ball work.

He then worked on his one-touch volleys before loosening up with some two touch passing with a Madrid coach.

The Instagram video will give fans hope of a quick return but no deadline has yet been set.

The Champions League away tie against Tottenham on November 1 will surely be in the back of his mind though.

The forward originally injured his calf in Madrid's 3-1 win of Borussia Dortmund but the extent of the damage proved more than first thought.

On top of domestic matches, the 28-year-old also missed his country's vital World Cup qualifier against Republic of Ireland. The loss means Bale will not feature in the finals in Russia next year.
