Bayern Munich will be without goalkeeper Manuel Neuer when the Bundesliga season begins.

Neuer broke a bone in his foot in April and has been working on his comeback but the league opener will come too soon.

'Manuel Neuer will not be playing on Friday,' Ancelotti told reporters. 'We will not take any risks.'

The Bundesliga champions will launch their bid for a record-extending sixth straight domestic title, having easily shaken off any opposition in the past few seasons.

But they will be without a string of injured players, including Jerome Boateng, Thiago Alcantara, Javi Martinez and new signing James Rodriguez when they take on Leverkusen.

Ancelotti is not concerned and believes he can rely on the strength in depth of the squad.

'We have injured players but that is not a big problem,' he added.

The Italian coach, in his second season in Munich, will have David Alaba and Arjen Robben back as they have recovered from their injuries.

'Both are in a good condition. But I will decide on the lineup for Friday,' Ancelotti concluded.
