The leaders of the ballot - which ends on June 30 - include Bastian Schweinsteiger, who moved to the MLS in January, after swapping an unhappy spell at Manchester United for Chicago Fire.

Also proving popular in the most recent update of the vote - published on June 17 - were former Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard, and ex-Ballon D'Or winner Kaka.

The MLS All-Stars game began in the mid-1990s as an internal, East v West fixture, but in 2003 instead saw a league best XI take on a major international club.

Previously these have included Premier League heavyweights Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. Last season Arsenal beat the All-Stars squad 2-1.
