Edinson Cavani signs new Paris Saint-Germain deal that ties him to the French champions until 2020

Edinson Cavani has signed a two-year contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain that sees his deal run to 2020.

Negotiations over a new deal for Cavani had been ongoing for some time, with his previous deal expiring at the end of next season. The striker was reportedly looking for improved terms as well as an extension, with bonuses the biggest stumbling block. 

Cavani now appears to settled those contractual wrangles and appeared smiling sat next to PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi having tied up his new deal.

'It is with a lot of joy that I extend my commitment to Paris Saint-Germain,' said Cavani.


'As I have always stated, it was always my clear intention to continue playing for Paris, its supporters and all the staff at the club to make it one of the biggest clubs in the world. 

'I am convinced that the club has the potential to attain all its objectives. Together, we will be more and more ambitious in the coming seasons.'  

Cavani, 30, has scored 125 goals in 192 competitive games for French champions. He is Les Parisiens' record Champions League scorer with 20. Perhaps with that in mind, after overseeing the signatures Al-Khelaifi hailed Cavani as the world's best striker.
