Radamel Falcao is back in Manchester as United flop looks to get one over on rivals City in Champions League

  • Radamel Falcao had a difficult season at Manchester United
  • But the striker has returned to form now that he is back at Monaco
  • Falcao will hope to score against Manchester City in Champions League

He may not have many happy memories of Manchester but Radamel Falcao had a smile on his face as he returned to the city on Monday.

The Colombian striker struggled during his one season as a Manchester United player, with just four goals in 29 games during a loan spell.

But now, as he returns to face Manchester City with Monaco, he looked to be relaxed and ready to prove himself again.

Falcao was at Manchester Airport on Monday morning as the French club touched down ahead of their Champions League clash on Tuesday.

And the veteran striker took time to sign autographs for fans, and pose for a couple of selfies as he walked past.

In fact, Falcao even signed a United kit for one supporter, who had presumably purchased it when there was a sense of optimism around the striker's arrival back in 2014.

However, despite two poor seasons in England - the second at Chelsea where he scored just once in all competitions - Falcao seems to be rediscovering his form.

He has found the net 19 times in 25 games this season, including four strikes in his last four games.

Two goals against CSKA Moskow in the group stages helped Monaco through to the last 16 of the Champions League as the Ligue 1 side put out Tottenham.

And now he will be hoping to carry that form back to Manchester and claim another English scalp.

Pep Guardiola acknowledged the Colombian's ability on Monday and admitted he was glad to see the striker doing well again.

'Falcao is a good professional, a nice guy,' he said. 'I am happy he is back and scoring goals. The way Monaco play is perfect for him.'
