Gabriel Jesus has declared it is time to 'now just recover' after going under the knife in Barcelona to repair his fractured metatarsal.

The teenager underwent a successful operation on Thursday night after visiting Pep Guardiola's favoured physician Dr Ramon Cugat.

Jesus is likely to be absent between eight to 12 weeks and is expected to return to Brazil to form part of his recovery. His goals were missed as City played out a 0-0 at Huddersfield in the FA Cup.

The Brazilian also uploaded a video on his Instagram story of him watching Real Madrid

The Manchester City starlet updated fans and followers with his progress on Instagram on Sunday night with a picture of himself leaving hospital on crutches and wearing a protective boot.


The caption alongside the snap said: 'Agora e so recuperar' which translates as 'now just recover'.

Later in the day, the Brazilian forward uploaded a video on his Instagram story where he appeared in high spirits.

Speaking on Friday, Guardiola cast doubt on whether Jesus would play again this season.

'I don't know,' Guardiola said when asked if Jesus would be back before the end of the campaign. 'He'll be back when he's fit. I don't know if that's the end of the season or next season.

'People say between two and three months. Last night he had an operation and it was really good.

'It's important to have good recovery. Now we'll give all our support to him and his family and waiting for him to be back.'
