Ronaldinho appears to be taking his new role as a global club ambassador for Barcelona very serious, arriving at the NBA All-Stars weekend in New Orleans with dozens of replica shirts to hand out.

The Brazilian legend, who became quite the journeyman after his spell with Barcelona, has finally hung up his boots and returned to the Nou Camp with the task of spreading the brand.

He did that very successfully at the Smoothie King Arena, meeting with NBA superstars LeBron James and Steph Curry, taking a snap with each of them, and then posting said snaps on Instagram.

The Brazilian star was also introduced to Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry

But it looked as though the two sporting stars had met before, embracing like long lost friends

It later emerged that Ronaldinho, 36, met many more NBA stars including, but not limited to: Anthony Davis, James Harden, Marc Gasol, Draymond Green, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant, handing personalised Barcelona strips to all of them.


The World Cup winner was in attendance as the annual NBA All-Star Celebrity Game 2017 was played out to a capacity crowd, featuring Mark Cuban and Brandon Armstrong amongst others as the East team beat the West 88-59.

To make sure no one started to take the game too seriously, they agreed to participate in the mannequin challenge just before the start of the second half, which proved as confusing as it was entertaining.

Ronaldinho, who enjoyed five years laden with success between 2003 and 2008 at the Nou Camp, took up his new role earlie this year almost a decade after playing his last game in the famous blue and red strip.

He won the Champions League and two La Liga titles under Frank Rijkaard before Pep Guardiola opted to sacrifice the forward in order to make Lionel Messi the central focus of his team. 

As Ronaldinho was revealed to the press, he said: 'I will continue to take the name of Barca around the world and it will be great to wear the shirt again. Together with my team-mates, we helped put together a great part of the club's history and thanks to God, things turned out well.'
