Tom Davies let everyone know just how much his first senior goal for Everton meant to him with a wild celebration and a literal embrace with the Gwladys Street End.

Davies was the official man of the match as he bossed Manchester City's more fated midfielders and capped his breakout performance with a delightful goal in his side's 4-0 win

With the visitors reeling at 2-0 down, Davies drove at their back line and eventually got on the end of Ross Barkley's pass to dink his finish over Claudio Bravo.

Romelu Lukaku appeared to try and touch it over the line but it was unclear whether he managed to get a toe on it. Regardless, 18-year-old Davies was certainly not letting anyone else take the plaudits.


The academy product checked to see if the ball had gone over the line before running over to corner and sliding on his knees. 

Still overcome with emotion, Davies took the congratulations of his team-mates before turning to the Everton faithful in the Gwladys Street End and leaping into their arms.

Reflecting on the moment on Sky Sports moments after full time Davies said: 'Definitely [claiming it]. Rom is trying to claim it but there's no way he's getting that one off me.

'It's my dream. To go out there and do it is unbelievable. It hasn't quite sunk in yet. I'm sure it will do tonight when I've spoke with my friends and my family.

'I got a chance and I took it thankfully. I'm really happy that Ross [Barkley] has spotted me there and I've managed to put it away.

'It is surreal being with the first-team in general but today, to beat City, and to do it as comfortably as we have, is a great feeling.'
