David Luiz has ‘serious problem’ with knee, according to Chelsea boss Antonio Conte

David Luiz's knee injury has been described by Chelsea manager Antonio Conte as "a serious problem".

The Brazilian defender has been sidelined for the past three weeks and looks set to be out for longer yet.

Prior to the injury, he was axed following a reported disagreement over tactics after Chelsea's Champions League defeat by Roma in October.

But boss Conte says the problem is now down to a badly swollen knee.

He said: "I don't know when he [Luiz] will back.

"He has inflammation in his knee and is with our doctor.

"He has been working apart from the squad and has been in the pool and on the pitch trying to run a bit, but very slowly.

"It's a serious problem."
