Arsenal star Mesut Ozil will not be joining Manchester United in January, insists Arsene Wenger

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger denied there is any possibility of Mesut Ozil joining Manchester United in the January transfer window.

The German’s contract expires next summer and he is yet to agree a new deal with the Gunners.

Recent reports had suggested Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho was interested in signing the midfielder and could swoop in the upcoming window, but Wenger dismissed this as speculation.

The Gunners boss said on Friday: “We have never been approached by Man United anyway, so I don’t see why that came up and who found that.

"It’s always something that has been created.

“Until the end of the season, for sure [he will stay]. The rest is open."

The playmaker has two goals and five assists this season, creating 43 chances.

Only Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne, who has spent considerably longer on the pitch, has created more.
