Arsenal to open new contract talks with Jack Wilshere in the New Year, reveals Arsene Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed the club will open new contract talks with Jack Wilshere ‘at the end of this month’.

The midfielder’s current deal is set to expire in the summer and, having spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, it was widely expected he would leave the Gunners to seek more regular game time.

But Wilshere has been eased back into the Arsenal first-team since his return to full fitness, and Wenger has now branded the 25-year-old ‘an Arsenal man' and revealed he will be offered a new deal.

Asked about Wilshere contract situation and his recent performance against West Ham - his first 90 minutes for Arsenal in over three years - the boss said: “He's been very patient and works very hard.

“We'll talk to him at the end of December. I wanted to see how much he can contribute and how he will last physically.

“I consider him an Arsenal man and it's important for him to feel happy here.”
