Manchester City BLOW! Injured Vincent Kompany OUT of Champions League clash with Monaco

Manchester City have suffered a blow with confirmation captain Vincent Kompany will miss Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Monaco .

Kompany was ruled out of Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Huddersfield with a leg injury he picked up in training, and the Belgian centre-back has not recovered in time for the Etihad Stadium meeting.

Blues manager Pep Guardiola confirmed the news on Monday, and revealed the defender should be back in action in time for their replay against Huddersfield next week, after the weekend tie finished 0-0.

Speaking ahead of the Monaco clash, Guardiola said: "Vincent is not ready for tomorrow. I think it won't be longer. Hopefully, for the Huddersfield game he will be ready."

Kompany has only made six appearances for City this season thanks to his persistent injury troubles.

Meanwhile, left-back Gael Clichy is hoping to prove his fitness after a back problem while Guardiola is still to decide whether Willy Caballero or Claudio Bravo will play in goal.

The City boss added: "More or less the rest are okay. We will see after the session tomorrow.

“Gael had a problem in his back. He is much, much better. Maybe he will be back tomorrow. Tomorrow we will also decide which goalkeeper will play."

Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan [knee] and striker Gabriel Jesus [foot] are both sidelined with long-term injuries.
