Niantic Reveals The First Two Legendary Pokémon

by Andrew Reiner on Jul 22, 2017 at 06:04 PM

You'll soon have the chance to battle Lugia and Articuno, the first two Legendary beasts that will appear in Pokémon Go. People across the globe will have to keep their eyes peeled for a special Raid battle against Lugia over the weekend. For those unfortunate people that attended today's disastrous Pokémon Go Fest in Chicago, IL, the Legendary Pokémon will automatically be added to their account, as a way of Niantic saying "sorry the game isn't at the Fest."

You won't see Articuno just yet. He's coming to the game soon, thanks to the efforts of team Mystic, which caught the most Pokémon during today's challenge sessions. Niantic did not give a timetable on Articuno's arrival.

The Legendary Pokémon weren't supposed to be unleashed upon the world unless they were defeated at Pokémon Go Fest, but since the game wasn't working for most people, Niantic scrapped those plans, but wisely decided to release all of the planned rewards.
