SNAPCHAT PHONE

Mediakix, a California-based marketing firm, published a concept design for a Snapchat smartphone.

It is an Android device that boasts a 360-degree camera.

Users can easily sync their Snapchat Spectacles with the phone by sliding a button on the home screen.

And the iconic ghost emblem is used for the home button.

Volume buttons also function as a way for users to scroll through filters in the app.

Third-party apps can be integrated, letting users message friends content - such as Spotify songs.

There is also a Discover screen that combines GPS, Snapchat Stories and advertisers.

Users can view Stories of their friends nearby or see the most recent content shared on the app.

'Snapchat's growth is slowing due to Instagram,' Evan Asano, CEO and founder of Mediakix, told DailyMail.com.

'We were thinking about how they could be more innovated than their competitors and since Snapchat has re-branded themselves as a camera app, we thought what could be changed about a mobile device to make the camera and messaging at the forefront.'

And Asano and his team at Mediakix decided to design what could be Snapchat's next big move.

DailyMail.com has contacted Snapchat for comment and has yet to receive a response.

The Android device boasts at 360-degree camera, volume buttons that let users scroll through filters in the app and a one touch capture function that can be pressed or held when the phone is locked.

Not only does this concept combine what a majority of people use their smartphones for, messaging and taking pictures, but it allows users to do everything with one hand – letting them easily capture real-life moments.

Asano also explained that this concept would transform how people use Snapchat's Spectacles.

'We have Spectacles and they are amazing, but the biggest problem is syncing the glasses to the app,' he said.

'You have to go outside of the Snapchat app and change the settings in your phone – it's very cumbersome.'

The Snapchat phone would let users easily sync the two by swiping a button on the home screen.

And because there is a 360-degree camera in the smartphone's design, it would expand the area that users can capture while wearing the glasses.

The concept phone would also allow third –party apps to be integrated into the phone's messaging experience.

'You can message a friend a Spotify song,' said Asano.

'With one hand and one swipe you can send it.

There’s no need to pair Specs with your phone first.

Spectacles are always ‘on’ and ready to capture the moment, but they’re not always recording.

The LED ring on the front of Specs will illuminate when you press the button to start recording.

One you pair a phone, the snaps will automatically appear in your memories tab.

From there, they can be edited and shared as normal.

And instead of the traditional circular-shaped Home button, Snapchat's smartphone would sport a ghost-shaped button.

'Snapchat was the first mobile app that revolutionized photo and video messaging,' Jeremy Shih, who does marketing for Mediakix, told DailyMail.

'Facebook did tried to make their own phone, but it wasn't that well thought out.'

'Although both Facebook and Snapchat have become core parts of the phone, because Snapchat has its Spectacles, they are a more logical fit for their own smartphone.'

Although Mediakix has not yet spoken to Snapchat about their design, the team has found that the camera app may already be thinking about their own smartphone.

Mediakix shared a list of nearly 50 hardware engineers, global supply chain mangers, product manufactures and other people the field, which have recently been hired to work at Snapchat.

And these individuals come from other tech firms such as Apple, Amazon Lab 126, Google, Motorola and more.
