Last week Michael's cousin said he believed the 'reclusive' singer died from a cocktail of drugs and alcohol.
Andros Georgiou claimed the singer, who died at his home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, had been trying to 'lead a normal life' but that he accidentally took 'too much of something' shortly before his death.
The music producer has now vowed to 'get to the truth' and find out 'who gave it to him and why'.
Speaking to the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire programme, Mr Georgiou said hard drugs 'had been back in [Michael’s] life' and crack cocaine was his 'favourite'.
'I just think he took too much of something, mixed with antidepressants and other drugs he was on - with alcohol,' he said.
'I think his heart just stopped beating.'
Mr Georgiou said Michael had taken steps to overcome his use of illegal drugs.
However, after speaking to people who knew the singer towards the end of his life, he believed he had been 'dragged back into the dark side'.

A post-mortem examination into the singer's death was inconclusive. Further toxicology tests have now been ordered but the results will not be back for several weeks. Floral tributes are pictured being cleared from outside the singer's £10million home

Earlier this month, Mr Georgiou broke his silence in a Facebook post, aiming a number of questions at Michael’s boyfriend Fadi Fawaz.
But, during last week's interview, he did not mention Fawaz by name.
He said: 'There’s a lot about this that doesn’t make sense.
'I just want to get to the truth about what happened: what was in his blood at the time, who gave it to him, why he had it again.'
He added: 'Right now, we are all raw and the whole family is incredibly upset and there are more and more stories that are completely untrue.'
Mr Georgiou fell out with Michael 18 years ago after warning that his lifestyle of drugs and partying would lead to his death, but they had planned a reunion before his passing.

But he insisted the star would never have taken heroin.
'It was not heroin,' he said. 'Crack was one of his favourite drugs.'
Earlier this month, Mr Georgiou wrote an explosive Facebook post, claiming he 'could not keep silent any longer' amid conflicting claims over Michael’s death.
He rebutted suggestions that the singer had taken heroin for the past five months of his life, describing the allegations as 'absolute rubbish'.
He was also furious with Fawaz’s claims that he and Michael were 'together 24 hours a day' and questioned his claims that he slept in his car on the night of Michael’s death before finding his body on Christmas Day.
Mr Georgiou, who once toured the world with his cousin, said he had repeatedly begged the Wham! star to get help because he feared his drug addictions would eventually kill him.

However, a series of rows caused a rift between the two men.
Fawaz has been questioned by officers investigating Michael’s death but there has been no suggestion of any wrong-doing or that he has sought to exploit it.
A post-mortem examination into the singer's death was inconclusive. Further toxicology tests have now been ordered but the results will not be back for several weeks.
Fawaz, a former hairdresser who has been trying to make a career as a photographer, was spoken to by police, and later said officers had been 'amazing' and 'supportive'.
He told them he spent Christmas Eve with the singer, but fell asleep in his car that night and only discovered that he was dead when he went to wake him the following morning.
Officers have also taken a statement from a photographer who took pictures of Fawaz going in and out of George Michael's house with a take-away coffee on Christmas Eve.
