All Bronze Age Iron Came From Space, New Study Shows
Popular Mechanics ^ | December 11, 2017 | David Grossman

Despite the name, there was iron in the Bronze Age. It was just extremely rare. Most famously, the pharaoh Tutankhamun had a headrest, bracelet and dagger made of iron. Other iron artifacts from the same time have also been found around the globe. The existence of these artifacts has led to an archaeological debate: was there, in fact, iron smelting in the Bronze Age?

According to a new chemical analysis, the answer is no. The iron humans had during the Bronze Age came from space.

I just want the flying car that ‘scientists’ and ‘mechanics’ said I would have by now!

Can you imagine wearing or wielding anything made of iron, as Tut did? That’s just cray-cray!

According to some theories, meteoric iron was freely available in many places on the Earth’s surface..........

Iron Man
Black Sabbath

I am iron man......

Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?
Can he walk at all
Or if he moves will he fall?
Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head?

We’ll just pass him there
Why should we even care?

He was turned to steel
In the great magnetic field
Where he traveled time
For the future of mankind
Nobody wants him
He just stares at the world

Planning his vengeance
That he will soon unfold

Now the time is here
For iron man to spread fear
Vengeance from the grave
Kills…

Nobody wants him
They just turn their heads
Nobody helps him
Now he has his revenge

Heavy boots of lead
Fills his victims full of dread
Running as fast as they can
Iron man lives again

Songwriters: Terence Michael Butler / Anthony Frank Iommi / John Michael Osbourne / William Ward

I think there's a theory that the ancient Egyptians gathered up meteorites because they believed them to be the frozen ejaculate of their god Osiris and therefore imbued with power.

Wish I could recall the source. It would provide an interesting interpretation of the kaaba in Mecca if true.

It all comes from space, the heavier elements from stellar processes:

Didn’t Al Gore invent iron and establish the first iron credit exchange?

Just as an aside: what if actual iron smelting started as a scam to sell fake magical weapons / implements?

The markup could have initially been outrageous, even more than it just being iron (which would initially be rare and expensive enough).

Might make for an interesting short story.

Most famously, the pharaoh Tutankhamun had a headrest, bracelet and dagger made of iron.
He also had adornments made of meteoritic glass from the western desert (see FR topics).

One of *those* topics. Tut wasn't part of the so-called Bronze Age.

Explains a lot of the sky worship ... though gifts of superior metal from the heavens might inspire the worship.
