Botanical Garden blocked minority kids from seeing exhibit: suit
New York Post ^ | October 21, 2017 | Kathianne Boniello

A group of mostly Hispanic kids from a Bronx charter school watched white students from a different school stroll into the Frida Kahlo exhibit “Art Garden Life” in June 2015, a former Botanical Gardens employee charged in court papers.

Andrea Chusid claims the Botanical Gardens fired her for complaining about what she described as blatant bigotry.

Chusid allegedly witnessed staff at the Botanical Gardens allow “a group of mostly Caucasian students to view a special exhibition of paintings at NYBG. On the same day, a group composed of mostly minority students … attempted to view the same exhibition but were initially denied entrance,” according to the Manhattan Federal Court lawsuit.

Did the other group have a reservation there? My company held a function there recently and we had to schedule it weeks ahead of time. There are some parts of the Botanical Garden that allow groups to book private events. That’s how a lot of these parks get revenue.

They paid their money and had it accepted. Is that a reservation? Beats me, but I couldn’t imagine taking a group without being confident of getting in.

I wonder if needing to read the policies more closely meant that groups larger than a certain size or school groups needed advance reservations.

1. Did the Gardens know they were coming that day that time ???
2. Did they have reservations/agreement for that day, time ???
3. Did they come too early/late ???
4. Was another school still in the exhibit area, late leaving etc ???
5. They were allowed in though weren’t they ???
6. How long was the delay in entering ???
7. Were they all there and ready to enter at that time ???
8. Did they all have tickets ???
9. Were the tickets for that day that time ???
10. Did they have too many in their party for the group limit ???

The Qs are numerous since little info has been given...

Maybe because too much truth will reveal she is lying ???

The school paid nearly $1,000 to bring the kids to the garden for the Kahlo exhibit but an employee refused them entry to the special exhibit, telling them, “As a school group you have to read your policies closer.”

I'm not sure what this means. I wish the reporter had elaborated. I'm guessing the real issue was some screwup--either by the school or the garden--regarding the size of the group or scheduling.

The white kids need indoctrination into commie artwork more than the black kids.

Heres a good point too

she said the “white” American kids were there in the morning...maybe they were the first school ??? so they got in on time...

The illegal alien kids came later in the afternoon...

By that time the schools might be backed up a bit and not exactly on time for the start of each turn at the exhibit...it happens...

so the illegal alien kids were 10 minutes late in going in and had to wait outside for the prior school to be finished and gone...

other schools were probably also forced to wait before or after but she ignored that possible fact...it didn’t fit her agenda...

A month before the alleged incident in the Bronx, a group of mostly black Brooklyn high school kids were kicked out of the Guggenheim just 20 minutes into their visit, after a few were accused of unruly behavior.

About 80 kids from Downtown Brooklyn’s Science Skills Center HS were forced to wait an hour on the sidewalk for their bus in April 2015, after one kid allegedly spat inside the museum’s rotunda lobby and another threw a penny off its winding walkway. The school was then banned from the Upper East Side institution.

Sounds like the reporter is excusing this kind of behavior.

Maybe, but from what I’ve seen, the legal system IS hooey.

Then again, much of what the Guggenheim calls “modern art” has on display could be spat upon, burned up, or torn and cut to pieces .... And what would not be improved by the vandalism, would not be harmed by the incident.

Seriously, these museums CANNOT just let typical kids from ANY school wander through exhibits and hallways any more. They need to be escorted front and back and in the middle just to protect the “art” from the kids’ mindless actions. And the deliberate actions.

So white is the opposite of hispanic? Didn’t know that.

Look, it’s over. The garden is toast. There is no defense against that. Even if they had solid proof that an aardvaark had pooped all over the floor and that no one was allowed in, it wouldn’t matter. The non-white is always right. The white is always wrong. Just turn over the garden to them now and get it over with.

Years ago I worked as a volunteer at Boston’s Museum of Science. One day a guy from NASA demonstrated a (new) Project Gemini spacesuit. As he was talking a kid (12-14) wandered up on the stage, pulled a piece of bubble gum out of his mouth, and jammed it into one of the suit’s oxygen ports, then stood there with a moronic smile on his face and waited for applause. However, the reaction from the crowd was to swear and yell at him while the demonstrator pulled the gum out of the suit, saying, “No, you can’t do that. This suit costs $22,000.” Some kids do not deserve to be let into a museum.

I think only the artists themselves are allowed to do that. Adds value, or something.
