The Democrats should be terrified by this governor’s race

WINCHESTER, VA. — The melodic sounds of a street musician’s trumpet echo through every corner of this old Virginia town as locals shop or make their way to lunch. Daren Johnson has been blowing his horn at the pedestrian mall in the shadow of the Shenandoah Valley Civil War Museum for over an hour. He performs for two reasons: “To make some extra cash and to share a little bit of lightness. We are exhausted as a country,” he said, “a direct result of last year’s election.”

Johnson and his wife were tireless volunteers for Hillary Clinton last year. They knocked on doors, they made phone calls, they were invested. When she lost, the couple was devastated. Now, Johnson doesn’t even know who is running for governor.

“I’ve voted every year for the past 46 years, always informed, always enthusiastic, always involved in the process. Now, it’s really hard to care,” Johnson said.

The upcoming gubernatorial election in Virginia is one of only two happening in the country this year, along with New Jersey. The race pits Ralph Northam, the current lieutenant governor and a Democrat, against Ed Gillespie, a former George W. Bush administration official and Republican National Committee chairman.

Northam should have a comfortable lead right now. Terry McAuliffe, the outgoing governor he currently serves under, is popular and generally seen as successful. Plus, Virginians have historically elected governors from the party opposite to a president who’s won the year before. In 2001, Democrat Mark Warner won one year after George W. Bush was elected; in 2009, Republican Bob McDonnell won one year after Barack Obama took the state.....

The Dem, Northam, has deleted the name and photo of the Lt. Gov candidate, an African-American from his campaign flyers, leaving only him and his fellow Caucasian Attorney General candidate on the flyer. That ought to annoy dedicated Democrat voting African-Americans.

NOVA was conservative until about 1988. Mass imports of northerners, mostly government workers, transformed the area. Virginia is now ruled by a group of liberal elites brought in from other states. Mark Warner comes to mind, especially now that he is shedding his attempt to appear conservative.

I have noticed his most recent ads touting his being a doctor and his military service as a doctor.
They repeatedly refer to him as Dr Northam.
Evidently his internal polling wasn’t looking too good.

Go up to Fairfax County and you can't swing a dead cat without hitting some foreigner and they mostly vote Dem.

I noticed Gillespie hasn’t countered Northam’s ad saying Gillespie lied about his record on sanctuary cities.
Northam says illegal immigrants committing violent crimes will go to jail. Only violent crime is mentioned, not all crimes.

An actual conservative candidate for Virginia governor would be doing much better than this!

Northam hit Gillispie early about his lobbyist days so E.G. has spent a lot of time shoring up his Main Street cred with local police and such.

Northram seems to be very soft on the illegal invasion.
If he gets elected he will set us down the California Sanctuary state road, ICE not notified or able to work with local/state police.

The NRA is spending a good bit hitting Northram on the 2nd Amendment.

Gillispie wasn’t my choice but he is who we have.
Not seeing much signage locally for either candidate.
Hopefully the dems stay home and Gillispie sneaks in. Better him than a full blown liberal fruit cake.

Turning red states blue is the plan through invasion or having large families.

Both candidates in VA are uniparty twits. And both are having a heck of a time motivating voters to show up. It’ll be interesting to see what the turnout looks like.

The fact that zero is pimping the dem would be all I’d need to vote for the rino. They know Virginia is a potential swing state sans voter fraud.

"Endangered species? In what way?"

endangered species as a politician, not as one of us, there are plenty of us out here, but we have almost no representaion in governement other than Trump, as it is Trump has very little support from the republican establishment and none from the democrats, but with a republican congress at least he has some hope of kinship

if the senate goes demo, Trump will have less than Lame Duck status

Considering who's been running Virginia, the books are probably already cooked in favor of the Demagogic Party. Thanks 2ndDivisionVet.
