The media plays dishonest numbers game with guns
The Hill ^ | June 24, 2017 | John R Lott Jr

A brand new PEW Research Center survey last week shows that gun ownership by households is up to 42 percent — an increase of 5 percentage points in the past four years.

Yet, few mainstream media outlets announced the increase.

In fact, the media goes out of its way to find polls claiming that Americans are turning away from guns. In my book, "War on Guns" the impression, the impression given by the media is that gun owners are a small, fringe group.

Maybe they are hoping that this will have an impact on policy. As General Social Survey director Tom Smith told me, a large drop in gun ownership would “make it easier for politicians to do the right thing on guns.”

Just last year the Washington Post and Time magazine trumpeted a CBS News poll with this headline: “American gun ownership drops to lowest in nearly 40 years” and “The Weird Reason Why Gun Ownership in America Is at Its Lowest Point Since the 1970s.”

In 2015, an Associated Press headline announced: “Gun ownership in U.S. drops to record low.”

Recent headlines in the New York Times and CNN declared: “Share of Homes With Guns Shows 4-Decade Decline” and “Fewer US gun owners own more guns.”

The Washington Post falsely assured readers, “The downward trend in gun ownership remains consistent across the national polls.”

Bizarrely, if the Washington Post and CNN had relied on their own polls, their headlines would claim that gun ownership has remained constant over the years.

But neither organization has run such headlines. . . .

the shakiest thing they do is, they cheerlead the importation of millions of violent illegals, then lump their gun violence in with Whites and Americans. Then it looks like a wild west free-for-all and they can “report” that gun violence is spiraling out of control. In reality, you and I are the same as we were in the old days. We are still Ozzie and Harriet

Nine consecutive years of year over year record gun sales....and the percentage of gun owning households is at its lowest point in 40 years?

That certainly sounds reasonable, now doesn't it?

"Yet, few mainstream media outlets announced the increase."

The fifth-column leftist media POSs are traitors bent on destroying the Second Amendment. The media should never be trusted.

Actually, it could be credible. (I doubt it, but it could.)

Think of it like this: Imagine there are 100 households in the US and 50 of them have guns. Now imagine that 10 more of them buy guns this year and at the same time you import 100 impoverished refugees. That means you started with 50% gun ownership, had more households buy guns, but ended with 30% gun ownership.

So long as I and all my conservative friends are well armed, I don’t care what the percentages are. In fact, the fewer liberal kooks who own weapons, the better.

Another possible explanation?

People refuse to tell them they own guns.

A reasonable thing to do?

Screw em, buy more guns and ammo. It is none of their business what we own.

CNN Poll:

“Nine percent of respondents were unwilling to state an opinion, implying that the true ownership rate is greater than 40 percent.”

Well, Duuhh! Would you tell them you owned guns?

If I was lying to the American people 24/7, I wouldn’t want them to have any guns either.

How in the ‘H’ can such statistics be true when we just came through the Obama era where everybody, his/her brother/sister bought guns due to the threat by leftist’s to control, or confiscate as many guns as they possibly could?

It makes no sense, but then when does the left make any sense?

Download the NICS background checks and look at the monthly checks since the 90’s. That’s a lot of firearms there Bubba.
Americans are armed to the teeth.
