Are U.S and Iran moving towards a military conflict?

On June 19, Iran Launched 7 medium-range ballistic missiles targeting ISIS in Syria. The same day a US Navy Super Hornet shot down a Syrian Su-22. On June 20, a USAF F-15E blasted Iranian Shahed-129 armed drone out of the sky. The drone was shot down as it advanced toward the coalition-backed rebel outpost of At Tanf, near the southern Syrian border. In addition, Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, in a speech, harshly attacked the US and posted hostile tweets. “That US arms a terrorist group is what causes instability. Who created #ISIS? The US!... That the US joined the anti-ISIS coalition is a lie. They're against an unrestrained ISIS but agree with a controlled ISIS…US president accuses Iran of terrorism, while terrorism in this region has American roots…” The supreme leader twitted.

Now the question is if the U.S and Iran are moving towards a military conflict. Iran’s lobbies in the US are trying to say that any measure against Iran would lead to a new conflict in the Middle East, and the war is inevitable unless the West and especially the US recognizes Iran as a regional power and start to negotiate with it, and give its share of the pie. In short, continue the appeasement policy of Obama with Iran. But looking deep in Khamenei’s statements, and also to Iran’s propaganda indicates that the issue is not a new conflict, but on the contrary to contain the main source of conflict in the Middle East, namely Iran and its proxy wars in the Middle East. Iran is terrified of an external and an internal threat, and all their actions and rhetoric are the spinoff of this fear. The external threat is the US-Arab coalition against Iran’s meddling in the region, and the internal threat is the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), Iran’s main opposition organization. For 8 years Iran enjoyed the appeasement policy of Obama administration, allowing it to pursue its aggressive policy in abroad, and suppression of its people inside the country. The “Golden years” of Obama is over, an international coalition of Iran’s neighboring countries and US are united to stop Iran’s export of terrorism, and the MeK supporters, have expanded their activates inside Iran. On June 15, 2017 the Senate passed a Bill for more sanctions against Iran and its ballistic missile program. Iran’s officials called the new sanctions as the “mother of sanctions”, referring to the “mother of bombs” which US tested last month in Afghanistan. The new sanctions are the first practical measures of new policy, and the Mullahs ruling in Iran are feeling that the West means business. On the other hand millions of Iranians inside Iran are eager to see the results of the annual gathering of Iranian opposition on July 1st in Paris. The MeK supporters inside Iran have been informing the people about this gathering. In the annual gathering of the MeK over 100000 Iranians from all over the world gather to discuss their mandate, and a number of international officials from the US, Europe and Islamic countries also participate in the program. Launching ballistic missiles, and all the hostile rhetoric of Iran’s officials are in reaction to their critical internal and international situation. These are not neither signs of war, nor signs of a powerful regime, but on the contrary these are signs of a weak regime trying to hide its weakness by resonating show of power in order to save itself from the deadly crisis they are surrounded. The end result is that if we want to prevent another war in the Middle East, the key is not appeasing Iranian regime, but to put more pressure on the regime and support their opposition.

If the Council on Foreign Relations can’t provoke a war with Russia, war with Iran will probably do. The US involvement in the Arab world apparently isn’t costing enough money and lives. Make no mistake, MCain and his bosses want America bled dry and unable to defend itself at home.

ISIS is a sworn enemy of America. And ISIS wants to destroy the West. Iran launches missiles against ISIS. So now America might go to war with Iran.

Syria is fighting ISIS. So America shoots down a Syrian jet.

It’s like we’re living in some sort of bizarro world.

There is nothing (short of impeachment or the president’s actual demise) that liberals would like more than to get
president Trump embroiled and bogged down in another hot shooting war somewhere.

Their big fantasy would be to get something started up with Russia.
But they would be perfectly happy to settle for Iran, North Korea or just about any other country.

I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting on an Iranian invasion of the US. And for the world’s so-called “leading state sponsor of terrorism”, there has been a remarkable absence of Iranian terror attacks on US soil.

ISIS is a Obama, Jarrett, Hillary creation.

A conflict with Iran is almost inevitable. They have 5 nukes now and when they hit 12, it will be go time against Israel. (This is my assessment.) Discovering the tunnels into Israel and the Brotherhood loss of Egypt were big blows to the plan. That is why they are after control of Syria now.

When it starts, the U.S. (and Europe) need to be ready for large numbers of sleeper cells to go on the offensive.

If we create regime change in Iran, then Saudi can throw off the Wahhabi yoke they placed around their own necks when the Shah fell.

Turkey is a bigger problem than most realize. It is mostly off the radar, but it shouldn’t be.

Iran has been at war with us since 1979, it’s just that the USA hasn’t acknowledged the fact. Iranian supplied shape charge IED’s killed many US service men in Iraq including 3 friends from my former national guard unit.

Iran can kiss my effing rear.

It’s interesting that the two major threats we Face these days Iran and North Korea are both mostly owing to the fumbling of Jimmy Carter.

Jimmy Carter didn’t support the Shah at exactly the critical point, permitting the Iranian Revolution in 1979 and he attempted to appease North Korea, setting us on a dangerous path.

both of these 35-40 year old problems are owing to Jimmy Carter.

What a mess. I hate Iran with a passion. There is no easy answer but I do know some lunatics are itching for war. The prudent answer is for the Iranian people to overthrow the scumbag Mullahs. If we had a CIA worth a damn, they could be instrumental. Our bipolar Mideast foreign policy seems to be an extension of Obama’s and Clinton’s way of doing things.

June 19, Iran Launched 7 medium-range ballistic missiles targeting ISIS in Syria......’FROM Iran’ to Syria.

This has not been reported enough as it happened. Iran launching ballistic missiles fro their nation to another changes the environment of the war in Syria....and the ME conflicts.... An extremely dangerous move on Irans part. Iran wants war between Russia and the US.......Irans goal is to take control of at the very least southern Syria...hitch it to Southern Iraq...to Iran and have their "crescent" caliphate...Syria is the geopolitical lynchpin for Iran.... the central theater of a Shiite-Sunni war for regional hegemony. Again for Iran it's the Shiite Crescent they covet stretching from Iran through Iraq, Syria and Lebanon to the Mediterranean...... If consolidated, it gives the Persians a Mediterranean reach they have not had in 2,300 years.

We do these stupid police actions around the world with the dumbest rules of engagement (ROE) imaginable. We have had too many presidents in a row who are more afraid of bad press from collateral damage than bad press from getting our soldiers killed.

But President Trump probably understands that the purpose of war is to kill people and break things until the other side surrenders. Bring it on Iran.

As some are realizing..the outlines are clear. The great Muslim civil war, centered in Syria, is approaching its post-Islamic State phase... It’s the end of the beginning.... The parties are maneuvering to shape what comes next....Raqqa, its stronghold in Syria and Isis capital, is next. When it falls the caliphate dies.

Much of the fighting today is about who inherits Syria..... Irans ballistic Missile launches were clearly to demonstrate ‘to Sunni Arabs’ the reach of Iran’s arms and territorial ambitions.
