How Trump's presidency is succeeding
The San Francisco Chronicle ^ | March 27, 2017 | James Hohmann, The Washington Post

Reading some of the news coverage this weekend, one might get the impression that Donald Trump's failure to repeal the Affordable Care Act is akin to Woodrow Wilson not getting the League of Nations ratified. In other words, a fatal blow to his presidency. That's hooey.

Health care is a siren song that has seduced many presidents since Harry Truman called for a national insurance program in 1945. Bill Clinton, for instance, spent far more political capital on the issue than Trump during his first year as president. His party also controlled both chambers of Congress, and he too failed spectacularly. But Clinton bounced back and won reelection....

His immigration bans struck down by activist judges, Obamacare repeal dead, his Supreme Court pick is stuck. So far, I’d say Trump is failing pretty bad.

We are just a little over two months into a 4 year term. No reason to despair.

His tweet yesterday was directed at his most enthusiastic supporters.

Dumb.

Starting to believe it was the plan the whole time.

Trump has been in the business world a long time. He’s had more than a few bloody noses.

2 months down 46 to go. I’ll give Trump more time. How much of his administration is even in place. He’s now in the process of discovering how much the deep state and his own party hate him. He’s on a steeper learning curve then he ever dreamt of.

His Supreme Court pick is as good as sworn-in. Been watching CNN have you?

2 months in, and in his first month this is what he has done: ✓ 235,000 jobs were added to our economy in February -- 100,000 more than what was expected ✓ 40% fewer illegal immigrants crossed our border (even before the border wall has been constructed) ✓ $3 trillion were added to the stock market as optimism about our economy continues to soar ✓ Billions of dollars will be invested here in the United States by businesses that are encouraged by President Trump’s economic policies ✓ Judge Gorsuch, a constitutionalist worthy of Justice Scalia’s seat, was nominated to the Supreme Court President Trump is just getting started. He will not rest until we truly Make America Great Again! I'd say he was doing great...

For the many unemployed, DJT’s presidency is not succeeding.

His SC pick will be confirmed next week. Activist judges will begin to be overruled. Obamacare will be repealed and replaced. Trump has landed the first blows on the federal behemoth in 30 years and is inflicting real damage on it.

I’d suggest putting more trust in what Moe, Curly and Larry say than Barry’s MSM stooges.

Oh, please. Stop pearl-clutching. President Trump has been in office for about 70 days. He is constantly attacked and disrespected by at least 1/2 of the repubs and all of the DIM LIBs. He already has accomplished by most presidents in their first year. Sheesh!!!

“...Judge Gorsuch, a constitutionalist worthy of Justice Scalia’s seat...”

.
There seems to be some disagreement in that opinion among lawyers.

Doubt the Dems in the Senate want to see the nuclear option deployed on behalf of Gorsuch.

IMHO, they will not find the 40 votes to stop him going to a vote. This will preserve their strength for upcoming seats.

“Trump plans to unveil a new White House office on Monday with sweeping authority to overhaul the federal bureaucracyand, potentially, privatize some government functions...”

And this point:
“If you look at these Cabinet nominees, they were selected for a reason, and that is deconstruction,” Bannon explained at the Conservative Political Action Conference”

General opinion seems to focus on Trump acting like a regular politician. As if when he gets into washington he’ll do what they all do and give in. The idea is that he plays golf or whatever for thirty hours and works maybe ten.

He works about eighty I would guess or more. he wasn’t working on Paul Ryan’s med plan with that time. He was doing all the things this painfully true article illustrates

The other perception people hold onto is that trump cares what the media says about him

They’re saying he and Paul Ryan failed.

It’s just silly

The two citations from this piece show that a theory that he’s playing a long game and step 1 is the necessary firing of Ryan is viable.

The article shows that at least he is not the egotistical next version of an idiot politician that people prefer he become.

Underestimating him is going to continue to be silly
