Fresh off a defeat on U.S. healthcare legislation, the White House warned rebellious conservative lawmakers that they should get behind President Donald Trump's agenda or he may bypass them on future legislative fights, including tax reform.
The threat by White House chief of staff Reince Priebus to build a broad coalition on tax reform that could include moderate Democrats came as the Republican head of the tax-writing committee in the House of Representatives said he hoped to move a tax bill through his panel this spring.
House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady said his committee had been working on tax reform in parallel with the failed healthcare reform push.

Well, Trump can’t count on the GOPe for anything.
Sadly, it’s where we are now.
We incrementally got here, but conservatives don’t trust incrementally heading back. I understand this, but the enemy of Perfect is Good.
I honestly think Trump was willing to punch Ryan into submission if the Ryancare Round #3 didn’t happen as expected.
Search is your friend. Already posted just down the page.
My advice: Why don’t we wait and see what the Tax Reform Bill looks like?
Then fight over it once we see what’s in it.
FC overplayed its hand with a new president who isn’t going to lose. It can’t be any more obvious the result will be more liberal legislation, but hey they’re perfect.
He’ll find moderate Democrats next to dodo on the extinct species list.
BULLSHITE.
I’ll beliebe it when Trump himself says it.
Rooters stirrin chit
I know I’m in the minority here but I want to see the budget balanced and 1/2 the debt paid off before we start cutting any taxes or other sources of revenues.
Because Obamacare 2.0 was perfectly fine by you, just because Trump signed off on it...even though he himself said the best thing to do is to just “let Obamacare fail and implode.”
If you can’t trust self-proclaimed ‘conservatives’ to even negotiate in good faith, what other choice do you have?
Trump is looking to get sh!t done.
GOP doesn’t ever get anything done.
What choice does he have?
GOP is pure failsauce.
DONALD TRUMP! I know Ryan and the GOP these days are bothersome but... MODERATE DEMOCRATS!? WHATS A MODERATE DEMOCRAT!?!? I used to think of Sussan Collins as one. AND WHAT’S NEXT?!
As long as the Senate requires 60 votes Trump has to work with Dems to get anything passed. If FC refuses to compromise then Trump will be forced to give more concessions to the Dems to get the needed votes.
Yup, THAT is yet ANOTHER thing I just don’t get for the life of me. There are a TON of centrist snd liberal Republicans (TONS). But WHERE OH WHERE are these so-called moderate Dems??? Outside of Manchin, and maybe one ot two thers, there are ZERO. NONE. So WHO is Trump/the WH referring to???
Trump is fighting with conservatives instead of fighting progressives.
This statement is clearly aimed at someone other than "moderate Democrats".
Once again, some people are taking the President literally, when in reality the opposite should be the case...
