First Ever Post and It's About Obamacare

My First Ever Post and it’s About Obamacare Enrollment.

Hello Y’all. Because of the wonders of Obamacare I lost insurance many years ago and never applied again. Thanks to Obamacare I’m forced to buy a new insurance plan, which I should have now with a few health changes, ONLY through ‘healthcare.gov.’ There are a whopping 2 providers in my county.

It is a total nightmare. I am self-employed and make sure to keep my adjusted as low as possible and minimize my tax liabilities. Some years are really good. Some years are really bad. The past 4 years have been terrible so I’m using those to estimate my earning for this year because you’re required to enter all this BS on your insurance application.

So, I enter in all my information and come to the brick wall of bureaucracy. Because my adjusted income was so low (they check previous years) I am required to get coverage through the state’s Medicaid program. ALL I want is a basic plan for a couple hundred a month in case I break an arm, have a heart attack, crash in to a tree snowboarding, or something catastrophic like that. NOPE. I can’t get that through Obamacare. I must get “free” Medicaid. And I can’t go back to change estimates and look for plans but they have frozen my application and are sending me paperwork from the state.

Unreal. What a cluster. And you know what? I’m going to have to take Medicaid and all you have to pay for it. I don’t want it that way and I am against people paying my bills in life. But I need to get coverage at this stage in life. The sickest thing is they make it sound like it is a wonderful thing that I qualify. “Congratulations you qualify for Medicaid.”

Obamacare is a drug pusher. Obamacare is there to give you your “free” crack and get you addicted. You promise to keep the liberal democrats in charge and you get your fix of “free” crack.

Progressives mess up everything. And the very least I can say to all of you I thank you for paying what Obamacare has forced me to accept. Only a few more days of this monster in the white house.

REPEAL OBAMACARE. Don’t replace. Rip out this cancerous program and let the market work it out.

What are your self employment experiences with Obamacare?

Opie

If your healthcare cost on those premiums is more than 8.05% of your income, check and see if you can file for an exemption at IRS.gov ...

We’re don to one provider, just a policy for me costs $8,000 a year and has a 6,500 deductible and 7,500 out of pocket cap.

Thanks Obama!

We are self employed and faced the same problems, we ended up going with a healthcare sharing ministry

. One thing about Medicare that you should check is that I’ve heard that they start charging your estate the market valve of the insurance immediately, plus the cost of any treatment you receive. Those are all liened against your estate when you die.

I think the story I read was an older farming couple who were acruing charges of $1100/month - they’d never even used it, that was just the insurance charges. And they’d only signed up because the Obamacare website put them there and there weren’t any alternatives. They got off Medicare immediately and tried to pay it back but they couldn’t. They were in Wisconsin or Michigan, and my understanding if it was that it varied by state. I know our state, co, does it too.

Something you might want to check.

Pelosi was orgasmic at the O/Care signing. (Ut, oh. Harry's hands are not visible.)

The Obamacare atrocity was a cunning vehicle for
consolidating Dummycrat power. Dems cashed-in bigtime.

(A) Michelle's buddy---botched the billion dollar web site rollout---still doesn't work.

(B) Harry Reid's $4 billion "accidental" payment to Landrieu is a clue to how the straight party-line vote got this atrocity passed.

(C) A multi-billion dollar slush fund---the Untraceable $8 Billion ObamaCare PR Budget---truly govt fraud at its finest.

Egged on by Pelosi, no one in Congress told Americans about Section 4002---which mandates an $8B untraceable fund to "promote" Obamacare (apparently b/c Boobamba had so little confidence in his signature legislation).

In 2010 Taxpayers are extorted $500 million, in 2011, $750 million, 2012, $1 billion, 2013, $1.25 billion, 2014, $1.5 billion and in 2015 and on, $2 billion........

Some states will go after assets if you go on Medicaid———be sure to check that out.

That is but one of the many ways you can get screwed, especially when there is a mid-year life change.

You may end up being declared ineligible for Medicaid but will qualify for Medical Needy. You get a monthly “share of cost” figure, say $2,000. But don’t multiply that by 12 and say OMG, I have a $24,000 deductible. That’s not how it works. Instead it is the most convoluted waste-encouraging program you ever did see.

If you make too much you can’t buy on the exchange and if you make too little you can’t buy on the exchange.

Be careful signing up for Medicaid as your assets may be liable to reclamation at some point in the future (after you die). Check your State laws on asset reclamation.

I would try to get your income up to the minimum required to be able to purchase on the exchange rather than go on Medicaid.

The whole thing is FUBAR.

My “healthcare” story is a frightful one to me. Up until
just a very few years ago, I paid my own way. Was blessed
not to have any extreme stuff. - Husband had good insurance
in his work situation. He got struck down with a serious
illness years ago & has resulted in numerous surgeries and
hospital bills. About every year for a while, then it got
to where he had to have some surgery or the other just about
every year. The last one they did 5 yrs. ago and resulted in
him DYING on the operating table briefly. I said, “NO
MORE!”. - He has a very large hernia; but cannot endure
another surgery UNLESS it’s life or death without it.

I suspect he got a bit addicted to surgery. However, it
is what it is. - I was paying my own dr. bills UNTIL
“Obamacare” came along and the costs ESCALATED really fast.
Now, I’m 70 & that “Obama business” has taken over!

I’m trying to improve my health habits on my own & would
not fool with them if my BP would ever get straightened
out on its own. Maybe ya’ll can pray for me to do that?

I’m self-employed, too.

Obamacare was a complete disaster for me.

Used to just carry catastrophic health coverage pre-Obamacare. Well, Obamacare outlawed that option. So I have been without any health insurance for several years. (Could not afford the “Affordable” health insurance.)

And now have some serious health concerns.

FU Obama. Your law may have killed me. But sure you don’t care since I’m just a white heterosexual male who has helped create literally hundreds of jobs. Of course, only for other white heterosexual males. THAT’S SARCASM - I could not care less about the race, gender, or sexual orientation of the people with whom I work, just their ability to deliver. (Although I tend to avoid doing business with liberals — they tend not to pay because of their entitlement attitude.)

Just go to a broker and buy a policy outside the exchange. It will cost dearly, but as long as we spend ten grand per capita annually in medical expense, that will be the case. No one is doing anything about the outrageous costs because it affects so few directly.

Wonder if you can delete that first application and start another one? Not sure if the Healthgov website will let you do that.

If it does let you start another one, then state your income to be higher, at least around $14,000 or so. You will get a plan that way, and if your income is higher as the 2017 progresses, you can make the change on the website so you won’t have to pay back any tax credits at the end of the year.

That being said, it’s amazing how totally messed up things have become for people wanting insurance now, isn’t it?!! Sure hope the Republicans can come up with something much better...and soon!

A small business owner friend of mine with wife and two teenage sons pay $24K/year.

Congress exempted itself from Obamacare.

Among other reasons, its why I did not vote in the congressional portion of the November election. The purpose of congress is no more than reelection of its members.

Medicare Advantage (real insurance in place of Medicare) started out great in my state a decade ago. There were a dozen different providers and each of them had half-a-dozen different plans.

As each new year came around, the number of providers and plans kept being reduced. Many dropped various doctors, so applicants had to change PCP (Primary Care Physicians).

The last 2 years, I had 3 different providers with one plan from each that I was eligible for. Two of the 3 providers did not list my PCP. I could have gone with my former (2016) provider/plan, but it raised both drug premium rates and drug co-pays. Basically, I was stuck with 1 provider/plan for 2017.

Part of the mess is due to Obamacare requirments and infringements on Medicare.

My sister went through a “health care ministry” Not a single expense of hers was paid for when she went in for emergency surgery. From what I’ve studied of the programs available and her experience you may as well take your money to the closest Indian Casino and put the money in the slots.

The thing is I’m not even medically needy. I’m not the healthiest guy in the world but I have no chronic conditions, the family has no genetic issues, and the only thing that I worry about is some catastrophic issue or accident WHICH prior 2010 is what I had and was perfect. 2011 I had emergency appendectomy and paid out of pocket. If I had Obamacare that surgery would have cost just as much considering the out of pocket and the premiums.

Now...If I want any coverage I’m forced on to the public dole. What sense is that. And I can’t even go back and cancel the application and “lie” about making more money than I do after adjusted self employment income. They also checked my previous returns and did indeed confirm I made basically no money for the past 5 years. YET, I live comfortably and run a fairly successful business. Heck, while I’m at it I may as well apply for housing assistance, utilities assistance, an Obamaphone, EBT, food stamps...

This is so frustrating. Thanks y’all for letting me vent.
