Welcome to another edition of the SwitchArcade Roundup! Despite it being Presidents’ Day in the US, there’s still some news about Switch games coming out. And of course, there’s still plenty of sales, and some new releases to investigate. Capcom leads off today’s roundup with some news about Mega Man Legacy Collection‘s upcoming Switch releases!
Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 & 2
Capcom will release Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 & 2 as a physical bundle on May 22nd. The physical version will run $39.99 and come with the first collection on the cartridge, with a digital code for MMLC2. Oh, and there will be a cleaning cloth included too, just to throw in some extra swag and make the $5 premium over the digital prices worth it. Here are the games included with the collections:

If you don’t want to pay for the physical bundle, MMLC1 will cost $14.99 digitally, and MMLC2 $19.99. Mega Man 11 is also set to hit the Switch and other platforms later this year.
Toki Tori 2+
Toki Tori 2+ is set to hit the Switch this week on February 23rd, with preorders available now. It’s kind of crazy Toki Tori has lasted this long. Originally, it was a puzzle platformer that released on the Game Boy Color after the GBA came out, published by Capcom. Two Tribes gave the title a remake in the late aughts, and it saw a new wave of popularity due to people rediscovering the title. They released a sequel in 2013, and it uses a unique gameplay structure where you don’t necessarily learn any new abilities, but instead just learn new ways to use them. The studio is now bringing it to Switch as the its second title behind the shoot ’em up Rive. You can preorder this one for the “special introductory price" of $9.99.
Noteworthy New Releases
Aqua Kitty UDX
A shoot ’em up that’s sure to net the approval of Jared’s Kitty Korner. You pilot a submarine in a quest to defend the milk mining kittens from deadly sea creatures. There’s co-op with another player, a campaign mode with branching progression, infinite levels, and more. The UDX version for Switch includes a brand-new Dreadnought mode with multi-screen bosses.
Samurai Aces
Some publishers are answering the call for retro games on Switch by re-releasing old shoot ’em ups, such as Zerodiv publishing this old Psikyo shoot ’em up. This was Psikyo’s first title, setting the stage for other crazy shooters like the Gunbird series and Strikers 1945, featuring incredibly challenging levels of difficulty. They definitely have a unique style to them, so if you want to experience this phase of Japanese shoot ’em up development, here’s a good place to start. Sadly, there doesn’t appear to be support for portrait visual display, which would work well with a stand. However, you can use individual Joy-Con controllers to play in co-op mode.

Litchspeer: Double Speer Edition
($6.99 from $9.99 until February 22nd) Can’t wait until March 1st to get some Lichtspeer spear throwing action on mobile? Well, good news: you can’ pick up the Switch version, with an exclusive co-op mode, on sale for 30% off. Your impatience means you’ll be paying five bucks more than the iOS preorder price, but the co-op mode sounds fun. Or, you could just buy the game on both platforms and have it whenever and wherever you want, especially since it’s less than ten bucks.
JYDGE
($10.24 from $14.99 until February 21st) 10tons’ latest dual-stick shooter is available for about a dollar more than you can get it on iOS. This probably makes it an easier call than when it launched on iOS at its $4.99 sale price versus the $14.99 retail price. Similar to a certain Mr. Dredd of the judicial branch, you are judge, jury, and executioner, dispatching of criminals in a cyberpunk future. Though, as according to our review, it’s more Robocop than Judge Dredd. Also, if you weren’t a fan of Neon Chrome‘s procedurally-generated levels, you get finite, designed levels here, with the same basic concept of top-down shooting where you have to intelligently manage the situations you find yourself in. Also, how do you pronounce JYDGE? Pretty much do your best, it makes sense in Finnish, but not so much in English. It’s not secretly pronounced like “Judge" even though the word looks like it.
The Flame in the Flood
($7.49 from $14.99 until March 5th) Oh yes, here’s the deep discount I’m craving. This roguelike-inspired survival game, featuring BioShock veterans, has you foraging and crafting materials, surviving the wilderness, all while discovering more of the dangerous post-apocalyptic American landscape that the game takes place in. Roguelikes feel like a great fit for the Switch because they make for a great fit on one’s commute, or just as a daily ritual, and this one has a ton of promising aspects to it. The half-off price is a killer discount, and you have a couple of weeks to make a call on it.
