National Anthem singer takes a knee while performing at Brooklyn Nets game

After performing the national anthem at Friday night's Brooklyn Nets game, singer Justine Skye took a knee in the latest installment of the ongoing demonstration.

Skye knelt specifically during the line "and the home of the brave," according to reports.

However, according to the Associated Press, the demonstration wasn't well received among fans. Skye reportedly received more boos than cheers for her stunt.

Shortly after her performance at the Nets' home opening game, Skye posted on Instagram a clip of her kneeling with the caption, "Got a bit shaky at the end.. was pretty uneasy about singing the anthem and probably won't ever be invited to sing it again but I had to take a knee for the opening game in my city and let my voice be heard. We will not be silenced #blacklivesmatter."

The singer's actions come after weeks of national controversy over a handful of NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem in protest. President Trump has repeatedly voiced his disdain for the act.

People who hate our country that much should LEAVE!

If you can’t love America, you have no business being here.

And I will never patronize a celeb who takes a knee to our national anthem.

I’m sick of ingrates using America as their punching bag to vent their anger at it.

Our country doesn’t deserve it! Period.

These POSs are not reading the temperature of the general public very well. This “taking a knee” shit is getting old and pissing people off. They are getting the opposite reaction that they expected. Sorry for the expletive rant.

Brooklyn Nets are the former NY Nets (played at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum), then moved to NJ to become the NJ Nets, and then moved back to NY (Brooklyn) to play at the Barclay Center ...

I'm a big NHL Hockey fan also, and you will *never* see this sort of crap in any NHL game ... we respect both the American and Canadian anthems, as do all the players ...

Contrast this with the NFL, where there are a bunch of 300 pound morons who haven't a clue, retarded coaches who haven't a clue, and ignoramus owners who haven't a clue ...

Football is a stoopit game, a simple game, run by idiots who pretend that they are sooooooo sophisticated ... they aren't.

I figured that Basketball would be different, even though I don't really care for the game ... at least Basketball players have a decent amount of detailed talent in what they do, unlike Football where everything is "Ooogggaaa Booooggaaa, Knock 'em Down" stupidity ...

It would be sad if the NBA went the way of the NFL ...

You probably won't ever be silenced by chickenshit league commissioners but you'll be clicked off to another channel and forgotten.

There should be a prerequisite for anyone wanting to publicly sing the Anthem. ...yodeling, for example.

12.9% of the population ... 80% of the problem. Sad but it’s the freaking truth.

Knee takers = kneegros. They don’t deserve my respect. People have had enough.

“People who hate our country that much should LEAVE!”

I agree with you, but the same was said of the hippie counter culturists of the 60’s. They stayed and changed our country.

There are some people that do not deserve to live in this country. How I wish they would all get on a boat out of here.
